West LA VA Veteran Housing Highlights

Since Fall 2019, U.S.VETS and partners have made significant strides on the West LA VA (WLAVA) veteran housing campus—including advocacy, community planning, infrastructure, transportation, and branding. A few of these accomplishments are listed below. To learn more, visit the West LA Veterans Collective website.

  • Advocacy: Numerous community and elected meetings have taken place, including a recent public hearing.


  • Infrastructure: Utility planning and potholing on Bonsall Ave (North Campus’s main road) are underway.

  • Transportation: Mass transit “First Mile/Last Mile” planning is in progress, including Metro purple line.

  • Branding: West LA Veterans Collective website and community naming activities are in progress.

Next Up: Design and Planning

  • 3D architectural renderings of the first four buildings, which will include wall coverings, flooring, furniture, people, and events.

  • Landscape and community space design

  • Environmental and structural testing

In July, U.S.VETS CEO and President, Stephen Peck, appeared on ABC7’s Eyewitness Newsmakers segment to discuss the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on homeless and at-risk veterans in Los Angeles, and the WLAVA veteran housing campus.
