Happy Independence Day!
NWPL will be closed on Tuesday July 4.
Artist Joanna Garbisch
Opening Reception
Friday, July 7, 4:00 - 5 :30 pm
Photographer Joanna Garbisch's interest in photography started in college when she was handed a Polaroid Camera for an art class. On graduating, she went to work for Polaroid's color lab in Cambridge, MA. In the early '60s, Dr. Land switched his attention from black and white to color, so in the lab Joanna and colleagues made the developer, positive and negative film from dyes and chemicals supplied by chemists. Within a year she was sent out to test the film in the real world and she never looked back.  Over the years she has traveled and seen the world through the lens. Show runs July 5 - Aug 14.  (more...)

Author Reading - Janet Benton
Thursday, July 20, 4:00-5:00
Come hear Philadelphia author Janet Benton, whose debut novel Lilli de Jong has been called a "monumental accomplishment" (Kirkus Reviews) and "a stunning ode to motherhood" (author Sarah McCoy). Released May 16 by Nan A. Talese/Doubleday, the novel tells the story of an unwed Quaker mother in 1883 who decides to keep her baby. It is in the form of the young mother's diary. Reviewers have compared the work to that of Geraldine Brooks. The author will read from the novel, discuss the history and motivations behind it, answer questions, and sign books. See www.janetbentonauthor.com for more information.  (more...)

No Reading Groups this Summer

We will resume book groups in the September, after everyone gets back from their summer reading.
Looking for a good book?
Looking to get rid of some books?
The front foyer of the library has a wide variety of books - all for quite reasonable prices! Because  Norman Williams Library welcomes contributions of used books from our community members, and because our local folks are voracious readers, we have quite a selection of books for sale!  All proceeds from book sales go toward the library's operating budget. Stop by and browse our current selection. Or drop off books you don't need anymore, so you can make room for new ones.
