Review the proposed Union Street redesign during an upcoming Virtual Public Workshop
|
|
You are invited to review and provide feedback on the proposed Union Street Redesign alternative during a Virtual Public Workshop that will be held on Wednesday, March 16 from 6-7:30pm. During the workshop, we’ll share a summary of the public feedback that was received, the technical analysis, and details of the chosen design alternative. We’ll also share next steps, possible funding sources, and the process to see these changes implemented. Attend the Port Circulation Study Virtual Public Workshop
|
|
You are invited to attend a Virtual Public Workshop for the Port of Wilmington area on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM ET.
For the past year, WILMAPCO and DelDOT have been conducting an analysis of truck traffic in and around the Port of Wilmington. This analysis has evaluated and recommended a series of improvements to truck circulation and access in the area. The study is seeking to identify feasible solutions that can be implemented through the DelDOT Capital Transportation Program that have public support.

Comment on the list of projects proposed for funding
|
|
Development of the FY 2023-2026 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) has begun. The TIP prioritizes and documents planned transportation projects, including road, bus, rail, bicycle, and pedestrian improvements based upon available funding. Pending review by WILMAPCO's Council, the draft TIP will be available for public comment from March 18 through April 29, 2022. The draft TIP will show how new Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act funds will be spent in the region. It also includes an updated Air Quality Conformity analysis, looking at how projects work towards meeting our emission reduction goals.

The Regional Progress Report tracks the fulfillment of our Regional Transportation Plan (RTP). Providing performance indicators for each goal and objective found in the Plan, it uncovers which actions are moving forward and which are not. DART Launches Annual Poster Contest
|
|
“Stuff The Bus 25th Anniversary Logo Challenge” is the theme for DART’s Annual Poster Contest. Open to school-age children grades 6 through 12, the contest is designed to encourage students to learn more about public transportation and its benefits to the community, as well as the chance to see their artwork featured by DART in various advertisements, promotions, and displays. Every year, DART partners with the Food Bank of Delaware for its annual “Stuff The Bus” Thanksgiving Food Drive.
Interested schools are asked to conduct the contest within the appropriate grade levels and forward the entries to DART for judging. DNREC Invites Delaware Students to Enter Earth Day Video Contest
|
|
With Earth Day to be celebrated April 22, the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control is hosting its second annual video contest to educate and engage young people about the importance of environmental protection and inspire them to become part of the solution to address climate change.
The DNREC Earth Day video contest invites Delaware students to produce and submit a 30-second video to answer the question, “If you were in charge of the world, what actions would you take to improve the health of our planet?” The deadline for entries is 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 18. Winners will be announced in an awards ceremony on or around Earth Day. Winners for each category will receive a certificate, a $500 gift card, an annual pass to Delaware State Parks and a prize bag.

DelDOT is seeking feedback on proposed redesign of Wilmington's North Walnut Street
|
|
Wilmington Initiatives (City of Wilmington, DelDOT, and WILMAPCO) are seeking to improve the multi-modal environment between city neighborhoods and employment centers, create a safer vehicular and pedestrian environment, and improve the visual appearance of the Walnut Street from 3rd to 16th Streets. DelDOT is seeking feedback on the proposed redesign through March 10. Interested persons are invited to express their views in writing, giving reasons for support of, or opposition to, the proposed changes. Recover Delaware Roundtable #10 - Coordinating Infrastructure Investments for Delaware
|

Featuring a presentation from Gregory Patterson, Infrastructure Implementation Coordinator for the Office of the Governor, this session will explore how and when funds from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) are coming to Delaware. Participants will engage in a conversation about how communities across Delaware can best manage and coordinate their efforts to make the most of IIJA funding.
This session is the latest in the Institute for Public Administration's Recover Delaware Roundtable series. Launched in partnership with the Delaware Emergency Management Agency, this series features conversations on economic trends, community needs, and opportunities impacting Delaware's ongoing recovery from the pandemic. Railroad Research E-Library Unveiled

As reported by Railway Age, "The Transportation Technology Center, Inc. (TTCI) is now providing online access to 30 years of railroad technology research performed under the Association of American Railroads’ (AAR) Strategic Research Initiatives (SRI) program.The new e-Library is available to the public. It features TTCI’s Technology Digest, a weekly publication that summarizes key findings and outcomes of SRI projects, providing railroads and suppliers with technical information."

Safety experts press for better driver monitoring in semi-autonomous vehicles
|
|
As reported by Repairer Driven News, "As semi-autonomous vehicles become more available in the marketplace, the auto industry needs to do more to ensure that drivers don’t put themselves and others at risk, participants in a Center for Automotive Research (CAR) webinar agreed. During the hour-long discussion, David Zuby, executive vice president and chief research officer at the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS); Kelly Funkhouser, vehicle technology manager at Consumer Reports; and Greg Brannon, director of automotive engineering and industry relations at AAA National, focused on the need for monitoring systems that can make sure the driver is watching the road and ready to take control at all times."
