Celebrating Our 15th Anniversary

Dear Members and Partners:

We know this has been a very difficult and painful year for so many families and organizations because of the coronavirus. At the same time, PON is very grateful for all it was able to achieve in 2020 including celebrating 15 years of existence and helping build momentum to prioritize culturally-responsive family engagement.

We can hardly wait to reunite with each and everyone one of you in person to embrace you, break bread, and reach many more students and families when it is safe.

Most of all, we are hopeful that our country will come back to health in the new year and we all can begin a real process to address and correct injustices in our history and systems. This is a long journey but together we will overcome.

The Success of Our Past and Our Plans for the Future

2005-2019 Milestones

Key outputs and outcomes:

Engaged hundreds of parents in summits celebrating culture and leadership
Offered training and experiences that empower and strengthen parents' skills
Hosted a Professional Learning Network with school district staff to help them work with parents as partners
Removed barriers so parent volunteers and advocates can effectively engage in school

2020 Impact

Key outputs and outcomes:

Advanced the dialogue on family engagement through research and policy strategies at the state level;
Collected data and developed resources for parents and organizations supporting families; and
Strengthened our communications, hired our first Community Organizer; and developed a strategic plan.

2021-2024 Strategic Plan

Priorities:

Advance the practice of meaningful family engagement
Continue developing and strengthening PON members
Expand our organizational capacity to deepen and broaden our work
