What’s on your hospital’s holiday wish list?
In need of some additional equipment or medical treatment items? Perhaps some overbed tables, bedside chairs or PPE. Maybe you have surplus items that could benefit others and make their Christmas a little brighter?

Health-Share brings buyers and sellers together on a sharing platform to swap, sell, rent or give away your surplus items.
Have a look and see if Health-Share is featuring something you can use!

More importantly, if you have something you want to share with the health care community, then please list your surplus items.

For more information, visit https://www.health-share.ca/home.html or contact Neil Ritchie at neil.ritchie@greenhealthcare.ca.

Canada has a plan to meet its climate target — and maybe now there can be a real debate
The key to reducing emissions will be the federal carbon price. Already the most politically controversial element of the existing Liberal plan, it is now set to increase by $15 per tonne each year between 2022 and 2030. That was the headline item from Friday's package — and perhaps the fact that any party, let alone the one in government, would be willing to propose such an increase shows how much the conversation on climate policy in Canada has shifted.

New research article available: Estimating the Health‐Related Costs of 10 Climate‐Sensitive U.S. Events During 2012
This article analyzed publicly available data sets, government databases, and published analyses in the peer‐reviewed literature to estimate the human health‐related costs of a subset of 10 climate‐sensitive case studies that occurred in 11 U.S. states during 2012: wildfires in Colorado and Washington, ozone air pollution in Nevada, extreme heat in Wisconsin, infectious disease outbreaks of tick‐borne Lyme disease in Michigan and mosquito‐borne West Nile virus in Texas, extreme weather in Ohio, impacts of Hurricane Sandy in New Jersey and New York, allergenic oak pollen in North Carolina, and harmful algal blooms on the Florida coast.

COVID-19
Canadian researchers turn to wastewater tests at long-term care homes to detect COVID hot spots
Several Canadian universities are preparing to test wastewater from long-term care homes in Ottawa, Toronto and Edmonton to get early warnings of COVID-19 outbreaks. Researchers in municipalities in six provinces are already testing wastewater for traces of SARS-CoV-2, the virus responsible for the disease. Many of those infected shed the virus through their feces, even if they don't have symptoms, according to researchers.

SUSTAINABLE CONSTRUCTION
Selecting the wrong drywall could introduce mercury into the environment
Make a big impact without paying more or sacrificing performance by ensuring your specification provides an incentive for drywall with:
  1. The lowest amount of pre-consumer recycled content you can find; prefer natural gypsum over synthetic gypsum.
  2. A preference for post-consumer recycled content.
To promote a more circular, sustainable process, encourage your contractor to separate drywall scrap for recycling. Watch this short video on recycling drywall.
