A Note from Deacon Campbell
Grade School Families,
The word “home” evokes feelings of comfort, belonging and shelter. Here at Bishop Watterson we are blessed to have so many alumni consider this building, and our faith community, a home.
I have been reminded of this recently as many of our young alumni, especially the Class of 2019, have come back to visit faculty, friends and siblings. It is always good to see them and hear how they’re doing. What our staff heard consistently in December and January is how well prepared the Class of 2019 was for college and, as educators, that is truly satisfying for us. With this in mind, I wanted to share the following thoughts from our Class of 2019.
Respectfully,
Deacon Chris Campbell ‘77
Principal
Thoughts from the Class of 2019
“Bishop Watterson’s AP courses have made my college schedule lighter and really prepared me for the rigors of college courses.”
Dominic Giacomin ’19, Purdue University
“During my first semester at Columbia, I felt like I had taken the classes before because of the strong background I received at Bishop Watterson.”
Drew Davis ’19, Columbia University
“Even going in without AP credits, I still felt prepared and could keep up with no problems. The way we were taught to write papers transferred well to college. Other students around me were stressed.”
Justin Frank ’19, University of Kentucky
“Because Bishop Watterson is so small, you learn how to approach and talk to teachers. Now in college I’m talking to professors and deans. At a smaller school like Watterson it’s easier to learn those skills because you have an opportunity to use them.”
Elizabeth D’sa ’19, University of Notre Dame
“I felt like I was really prepared, even more than the kids around me. I probably did half as much work because of the study habits I learned at Watterson.”
Matthew Rhomberg ’19, Loyola University Chicago
“Non-academically, I have found it really easy to find people like me that I can become super close with. I think the strong family and community at Watterson helped me in college with recognizing that there are so many people I can be friends with.”
Kristen Kramer, ’19, University of Dayton
“Because we were expected to fill our schedule for four full years of high school at Bishop Watterson, we had the opportunity to take electives that helped us learn about our strengths and career interests. Going into college, I had already narrowed down options for my major because I was able to take so many electives at Watterson.”
Jenna Mar ’19, Kent State University
