Week of February 15, 2021

Good Evening CCGS Families,

This week our focus was on the word "LOVE." We talked about what love means to us, how we can love things in nature, and how to show love and kindness for others. We had so much fun in PE and in our classrooms this week with the Ro Sham Bo Schoolwide contest and raising money for such a great cause! Addy and her family are so thankful and grateful to all of you! This week our students also showed love to the people that live at Heritage Woods by creating Valentine's Day cards for them. We know they will love the cards our students have created for them. This week we also learned about the following people for black history month: Katherine Johnson, John Lewis, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and Thurgood Marshall.

Next week our word is "Courage". We will be learning about more famous African Americans and the kindness, courage, and love they showed or still show today. We will also be thanking someone who has shown courage or shows courage on a daily basis this week. We are encouraging students to write a letter, create a flip grid, send a video, or call someone in their family who they think is courageous.

As a reminder there is no school on Monday, February 15th in honor of President's Day. Wednesday, February 17th is National Random Acts of Kindness Day. Please take some time to do model this for your children! Also, please join us for our Virtual Family Reading Night next Thursday at 6:00 p.m. and stay after for our PTO meeting at 7:00!

We have walked almost 2,000 miles! Every step takes us closer to our school goal of 30,000 miles by Spring!

Please upload any of your February photos to this album. If you'd like to check out our January video please click here. We are so excited to share our new theme song for the year with you which is at the start of the video.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend with your family!

Mrs. Hamm

Do you know a future CCGS or Y115 kindergarten student? Please share this information with them if you do! We will be handling registration different in the past and each family will go to their home school. Circle Center's registration date is March 16th 4-7 p.m.
Congratulations to this student for being our Shout Out Winner and for following the 4 Cornerstones. She will get a chance to lead our school in the pledge of allegiance next week.
Congratulations to Ms. Pynenberg's a.m. classroom for being the Golden Platter winner of the week! They were following our four Cornerstones and get to have the trophy in their classroom and a recess with Mrs. Anderson or I! We look forward to playing with them next week.
Below are some pictures of our Ro-Sham- Bo Champions from the week. Congratulations to Michael for being our student champion! Congratulations to Mrs. Ripsch for being our staff champion. In the staff vs. student challenge Michael was the winner. His class will get an extra recess next week!

  • We just received updated guidelines from the IDPH that neck gaiters are now approved masks for school. Gaiters must have two layers (double ply) of fabric to be worn in school.
  • We have many students using Lexia at home at at school. This research based program is designed to support students with reading gaps and skills and provides lessons to teachers for in class support. There are additional tips and activities you can do at home! Here are the learning activities you can practice at home: kindergarten first grade second grade third grade
  • If your remote learner is walking or running at home towards our steps goal, please email [email protected] at the end of the week with the total miles walked. If you are walking as a family and your child comes to school you can send it on a note with your child.

  • If you or anyone in the household has symptoms, all students need to remain home until the family member is cleared. To continue to ensure the safety of all staff and students, it is imperative that guidelines are followed. If you are unsure of the guidelines, please contact nurse Dawn at [email protected] or myself at [email protected]. The quarantine requirements for school are a bit different than the CDC guidelines. The safety of all of our students and staff is my highest priority.
