Historical Tidbit:
Meeting House Required
"A prerequisite for permission to form a township, as laid down by the General Court, was that a Meeting House be built before the petition would be granted. In the case of Halifax, however, the building was not completed until shortly after the town was incorporated. There is no explanation anywhere in the town records for this unorthodox transaction. Perhaps promises were made by petitioners and their judgment and integrity put above suspicion. At any rate, we can claim one more "first" in the distinguished history of Halifax."
Halifax was incorporated on July 4, 1734.

Helpful Tips for Staying Healthy:
1. Frequent hand washing is the BEST way to prevent and combat the spread of germs! Wash hands often with soap and water or hand sanitizer.
2. Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or use an elbow or arm if no tissue is available.
3. Do not share drinks, food or unwashed utensils.
4. Get plenty of rest, eat healthy foods and drink lots of water.
5. Avoid people that are sick and stay home when you are sick.
6. Disinfect surfaces that are prone to germs (phones, keyboards, doorknobs, toothbrushes, etc.).
These are THE BEST ways to protect yourself... no matter WHAT the illness.

HOPS Playground Tables
Want to help me improve Halifax? I'm raising money to benefit Friends of HOPS and any donation will help make an impact.
My name is Ryan McCarthy and I am a Life Scout from BSA Troop 39 in Halifax, MA. I am working towards the Eagle Scout, the highest rank in the Boy Scouts of America. One of the requirements for the rank is to complete a service project that will benefit the community.
Halifax has renovated its playground after several years of planning by Friends of HOPS (Halifax Open Play Space). For my project, I would like to expand the playground renovation by installing picnic tables under the soon to be built pavilion. The tables will be 46" square, one of which will be handicapped accessible. All of the tables are ADA approved. These tables will give families a place to sit in the shade at the playground.
I am seeking donations to cover the cost of the of the tables which will be ordered from UltiPlay Parks and Playground inc. Ultiplay is the company that the new playground equipment was ordered from so it has proven to be a high quality, high standard, and unfortunately a high priced company. Other expenses are the shipping of the tables and refreshments for any scouts helping on the project. Scouts are encouraged to seek donations from the community and any donation to make this plan to improve my town would be appreciated.
Thank you for helping make my town a better place!
Ryan McCarthy

Hope
.
"Once you choose hope, anything’s possible." ~ Christopher Reeve
" I dwell in possibility." ~ Emily Dickinson
"May your choices reflect your hopes, not your fears." ~ Nelson Mandela
"Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness."
~ Desmond Tutu
"You get in life what you have the courage to ask for." ~ Oprah Winfrey

Hope is not a thing of childish dreaming... no, it is a powerful tool by which we change the world. We decide each day how to view things, how to move forward.
I choose to have hope. Hope in the goodness of humanity, hope that together we can find solutions and make choices healthy for all of us.
Hopefully yours, Jacquie
