Carl Cannon to Retire from Peoria Park District after 21 Years of Service

Peoria Park District to Celebrate Achievements and Share Cannon's Next Steps on Wednesday, July 13th at 10:30am at Noble Center press conference
PEORIA (July 11, 2022) – The Peoria Park District will host a Press Conference on Wednesday, June 13th at 10:30am at the Bonnie W. Noble Center for Park District Administration to celebrate the service and contributions of Carl Cannon, who officially retired from the District on June 30, 2022.

Cannon has served the Peoria Park District since 2001 and his ELITE Program has impacted the lives of thousands of youth and returning citizens in our Peoria community and inspired countless others across the nation.
On Wednesday, July 13th, at 10:30am, District leadership will share remarks about Cannon's impact on the community and the Peoria Park District. Cannon will also speak and share details of what comes next for him and his ELITE programming after his retirement.

"On behalf of our District and the families we serve, I extend my sincere gratitude to Carl and his passionate commitment to making Peoria a better place. People like Carl don't come along very often and Peoria is lucky to have benefitted from his efforts. The Peoria Park District looks forward to what comes next for Carl and we will continue to support his work, just from a different vantage point.... as his cheerleader instead of coach," states Peoria Park District Executive Director Emily Cahill.

While Cannon is retiring from the District, his definition of retirement is as high energy as his personality. He plans to continue much of his programming work locally under the umbrella of his non-profit organization ELITE Community Outreach. "I look forward to continuing to serve Peoria," says Cannon.
