Lens of the Future Update
Current Level: Very High
At a special meeting on Sept. 30, the board of trustees adopted new policies relating to in-person gatherings sponsored by the church held indoors and all events held in the church building, to become EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 15, 2021. These policies acknowledge that meeting the needs of all members of the congregation will only be achieved through a combination of adequately precautioned in-person and indoor gatherings and continued availability of virtual electronic programming for those needing to participate from remote locations. So, multiplatform delivery of services and other programs is how we will move forward.
Just a friendly reminder that if you and your group would like to meet in the building to please contact [email protected] to schedule your space. We have size restrictions based on where in the church you’re meeting as well as a cap of 50 people in the building at any one time based on the restrictions of Level 3 as implemented by the Board. Thanks for your cooperation and understanding! Building reservations are made Monday - Friday. If you need to reserve space outside of business hours, please allow adequate time for your request to be processed.

Faithful Conversations about
The 1619 Project: A free six-week
series for communities of faith
Mondays at 6:30 PM, October 4 through November 8, 2021
Interfaith Alliance of Iowa invites you to join with communities of faith across Iowa in faithful conversations about The 1619 Project. Slavery in the United States has been referenced as our “original sin.” Given that context and the fact that many communities of faith justified enslavement and benefited materially from it, or, on the flipside, worked for its elimination, it is critical the faith community intentionally study slavery and its lasting impact on the generations during and after.
For complete information go to the Interfaith Alliance of Iowa. You can register for the series at this site, and you will receive the live stream weblinks for the weekly faith leader discussions which can be viewed Monday evenings at 6:30 p.m. CT (live) or anytime during the week on the Interfaith Alliance of Iowa YouTube channel.
If you prefer to watch with a group of UUs, First Unitarian will be streaming the conversation in Griffin Hall on Mondays (starting Oct 4) at 6:30. To join this group, please register here rather than on the Interfaith Alliance site. Contact Harvey Harrison at [email protected] if you have questions.
Faithful Voices for Racial Justice is a project of Interfaith Alliance of Iowa. If you would like more information or would like to join the work, please contact Connie Ryan at [email protected].
