Backing our Blue!
YOUR United Way gift supports local law enforcement;
Community Safety Event Saturday at Southview Park (3 to 6 pm)
DID YOU KNOW? YOUR United Way gift supports local law enforcement!

Both the Bellefontaine Police Department AND the Logan County Sheriff's Office are United Way Funded Agencies, receiving annual dollars from our campaign (over $23,000 this year) to support their community outreach and education efforts.

We've been doing this for years, LONG before recent events put a spotlight on police relations with communities. The events foster positive interaction, encouraging residents that policemen are on OUR side. They also help police keep up with the pulse of what's going on in our neighborhoods.

"It's a time of really getting to know our neighbors and listening to THEM," says Bellefontaine Police Chief Brandon Standley. "It's really appreciated at the street level when a citizen says, 'Oh my goodness, I don't have to walk down to 135 North Detroit Street where we're located to actually speak to the Chief or talk with the Lieutenant or see the K-9. I can do it right here.' It means a lot and we get a lot of feedback."

BPD's annual Community Safety Event is SATURDAY from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Southview Park. This family-friendly event includes food, fun, activities, presentations, demonstrations, and games.
LISTEN TO OUR SHINE FM INTERVIEW.
This week, we were on Shine FM's Morning Show with Angie Vertucci to promote our partnership. Chief Standley expands upon the importance of these community events, and talked more about the secondary impacts of the COVID-19 situation that he is seeing in the community from a law enforcement perspective.
