President's Message
It’s March. Again. I don’t know about you, but I feel like I’m just now getting over the last March we had. It’s hard to believe it’s been a whole year since the COVID pandemic entered our lives. Only one short (or long, or both) year ago, we were hoarding toilet paper and binging Tiger King. Today we are adjusting to a virtual world, reminding people that they are on mute, desperately praying it’s a "camera off" meeting, and possibly still wearing pajama bottoms with our suit jackets. Not that I would ever do that…

I hope you all weathered the crazy winter storm we saw at the end of February. I want to give a special thank you to all of our front-line workers who, despite dangerous conditions, worked to ensure our highways and roads were safe for those brave souls who traveled out into the great frozen tundra of DFW. As far as I’m concerned, that type of weather can stay gone for another 80 years! I’ve got my eye on those lovely two weeks or so that we get of spring before the heatwave commences.

In addition to changing temperatures, wildflower season, and spring breaks, March is also Women’s History Month. Throughout history, women have had an undeniable impact on transportation. Amelia Earhart, Katherine Johnson, and Sally Ride are some that immediately come to mind, but there are so many others. Take some time this month to learn about women like Mae Jemison, the first black woman in space, or Mary Anderson, who invented the windshield wiper. We stand on the shoulders of greatness, and it is vital to keep working hard every day to create even more opportunities for the next generation.

Enjoy the warmer weather, keep wearing your masks, and wash your hands. And as always, thank you for everything you do.

Sincerely,
Brittney Farr, Esq.
