Dear PVPUSD members of the Class of 2020 and their proud families,

Thank you very much to the many of you who filled out the graduation feedback survey.  It was great to hear from so many of our students, parents and staff members.  After going through all of your feedback, we wanted to update you on the status of the end of year celebrations for the PVPHS and PVHS graduates.

The results of the survey were clear; PVPUSD students and parents want a live graduation ceremony. It is our goal to organize some type of a live graduation ceremony for both high schools, but at this time it is not possible for us to predict when our state will be reopened and when we will be able to have large events again.  If we are not able to host live graduation ceremonies on June 11, 2020, we will postpone these ceremonies.  The graduation ceremonies may be postponed to this summer or later into the 2020-2021 school year. We feel these ceremonies are very important for the graduates, their families, and our respective schools' staff to celebrate this incredibly resilient Class of 2020.  As soon as we have clear guidelines from the CDC and the California Department of Education, we will move forward in finalizing the date of live graduation ceremonies for the Class of 2020.

In the meantime, we are looking into creative ways to celebrate the graduating class on June 11 th , 2020.  Many of you shared great ideas, and the administrative teams at PVPHS and PVHS are working together to explore all options.  We also cannot finalize plans for June 11 th  until we know what guidelines and restrictions will be in place for our students and community at that time.  As always, our top priority is the health and safety of our students.

Thank you for your patience during this challenging time.  We look forward to commemorating the Class of 2020.

Sincerely,

Dr. Brent Kuykendall, Principal of PVPHS
Dr. Allan Tyner, Principal of PVHS
