WILL TSUI '06 OPENS VIRIDIAN BAR IN OAKLAND'S UPTOWN
Viridian Bar opened its doors just a few weeks ago and the reviews have been outstanding. Will and his business partners, all Oakland natives, have impressive resumes from the Bay Area food and drink scene. The bar boasts sophisticated, creative food and drink menus inspired by the Asian-American experience. Viridian hosted a Lunar New Year celebration this past weekend. Swing by Viridian and try fun bites like Salt & Pepper Chicken Nuggets and Thai Tea Tiramisu or drinks like the Hot Thottie or Lemon Glass. WARRIORS' "IMPACT WARRIOR" AWARD GOES TO TEACHER TONY GREEN
At the Warriors vs. Lakers game, teacher, coach, and leader extraordinaire Tony Green was honored as an "Impact Warrior," an award for community leaders who make a positive impact on others. Alumna Jazmin Villanueva '12, with the Warriors community relations team, shared the news with Tony: "I'm so excited to honor my very own high school history teacher and a mentor to soooooo many in front of Dub Nation." Tony's family and Warriors VP of HR Erin Dangerfield '99 joined in the celebration. Watch Tony's son accept the award
O'DOWD STUDENTS LEAD BAY AREA TEACH-IN FOR JUSTICE
Nearly 150 students and teachers from ten Bay Area high schools gathered at Bishop O’Dowd High School for the 5th Annual Bay Area Teach-In for Justice, with the theme,“Rooted in Justice, Growing for Change.” Organized and led by O’Dowd’s Solidarity-in-Action student leaders, sessions addressed regional issues and actions and featured sessions with change-focused organizations and leaders. CRAB FEED RAISES MORE THAN $155,000 TO ENHANCE THE STUDENT EXPERIENCE
With more than 500 in attendance this year, the 2020 Crab Feed, held Saturday, February 1, raised $157,000 (net) to support O'Dowd's robust co-curricular program offerings as well as professional development for faculty and staff through the paddle raise. The event has become one of our most powerful community fundraisers, growing 70% over the last three years.  View gallery and read more

Where is Your Home? Founder's Day 2020
 At Founder's Day this month, held during Catholic Schools Wee k, students, faculty, and staff participated in a collaborative assembly to honor O'Dowd's history and our common home. Former teacher, parent, and Living Lab advocate Tom Tyler gave a stunning presentation on the history of O'Dowd, from its geological genesis to its lively community today. Eco Leader seniors Trinity Cooper, Korie Lynch, Howard Huo and Shuming Xu created a very special video, "Our Common Home," for the day. Watch and enjoy

Student Extraordinaire: William Charette ’57 was recognized as the University of Nevada Las Vegas’ oldest graduate. At 80 years of age, William received his Master's in Education. In 2017, he was awarded a Graduate Certificate in Writing for Dramatic Media, is a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, and is currently in completing an M.A. in Theatre Arts. In 2009 he earned a B.A. in Theatre Arts with a minor in Film Studies at California State University Sacramento. William shared, “I am eternally grateful for the education that I received at Bishop O'Dowd High School…Don't stop learning!”
Dragons Build the Bay: Mike Groff '85 worked on the design and integration of technology for UCSF’s new Bakar Precision Cancer Medicine Building at Mission Bay. UCSF’s new pioneering cancer center is devoted to providing patients with cutting edge care and wrap-around services. “Dragons help build the Bay Area,” says Mike. His son and O'Dowd senior Alex '20, who plans to pursue computer science in college and work in the IT field, gained real-world experience by doing a summer internship for the project.
Apple's New Powerhouse: Antoniya Green '00 In January, Antoniya began her role at Apple as head of U.S. Partner Sales Enablement programs. She provides integrated content, training and coaching services for sales, powered by technology for distributors such as Nordstrom, Best Buy, Target and Macy's. She is based in the Dallas area, following 15 years with Verizon, leading various marketing teams and functions for the business division.
