Dear FHUSD Families,
The Offices of the Governor and Superintendent of Public Instruction issued a statement this Friday afternoon that all schools will remain closed through April 10, 2020. The letter from these state leaders is posted on the FHUSD website under our COVID-19 link and it is also attached to this email.
For the past week, FHUSD has been preparing to respond to an extended school closure with a remote and online based instructional plan that seeks to meet the needs of all students. Principals have been meeting and conferencing with their instructional staff to develop their plans. Based on their preparation, we will begin delivery of content area instruction to all FHUSD students on March 30th. During the week of March 23rd, we will begin by using the Fountain Hills High
School students to test various electronic delivery methods to ensure a smooth roll out for all students. During the FHHS test period, students at FHMS and MMES should continue to use the supplemental resources that are listed on our FHUSD COVID-19 page. In addition, all families will begin to receive more specific information directly from their child’s school and teachers during the week of March 23rd to prepare them for this shift in how instruction and student work will be delivered and monitored.
To begin this shift in schooling, please assist with the following:
- Respond to the following electronic survey included here as soon as possible about your household access to online instruction tools (Survey Link)
- Direct your child to the district website for our current list of supplementary resources listed on our COVID-19 page- look for the link to “3/20/2020 Academic Resources for Families” (click here). This list has been compiled by our teachers and will be continually updated
- Be attentive for direct contact to families next week by your child’s individual school and teacher(s) through email and other means with specific information about how the delivery of instructional materials will occur for a specific grade level or content area, whether the materials be in paper or electronic format.
In this time of uncertainty about school services for children, I have asked for patience and understanding as we move to a massive shift in how we respond to this environment. We are now moving into the action steps to deliver our educational services with the highest level of professionalism and quality and founded on the principle that we truly care about the children of Fountain Hills. Please know that there will be bumps in the road. Our teachers and support staff miss the personal contact with their students and know that this new model is not a substitute for a daily smile and a pat on the back. They will work hard to provide the best possible education for your children in the next few weeks but look forward to the day when students walk back into their classrooms.
Thank you.
Robert Allen, Ed.D.
Superintendent
