Dear Friends,

What a busy October we've had! From the march for women's reproductive rights to our Vaccine Clinic at headquarters to registering voters to canvassing for vote-by-mail, we have made it known that St. Johns Democrats have boots on the ground and are ready to fight for our democracy! And this month -- November 9th -- will mark one year to next year's critically important election. Want to get involved? Show up at headquarters on any Tuesday between 11 am and 3 pm for some hands-on work anyone can do. It's a great way to get your feet wet and meet some like minded folks too! You can also check out any of the other events and activities listed below or contact us at volunteer@StJohnsDemocrats.org. We're taking off the whole week of Thanksgiving for a well-earned break and are wishing each of you a peaceful and relaxing holiday!

REDISTRICTING ALERT FOR ST. JOHNS COUNTY
THREE public meetings are scheduled for next week on redistricting St. Johns County. This redistricting effort will affect the boundaries of the County Commissioners and School Board members, as well as those of many SJC precincts.

HERE is where you can find the 5 maps currently being proposed. It appears that Plan E maintains the most similar racial composition of the current districts, but we are still reviewing them. Please contact Rhona DiCamillo if you would like to join her for a review and discussion of the five plans.

Comments may be submitted to the BCC and School Board by visiting redistricting2021@stjohns.k12.fl.us. We also encourage you to attend any or all of the meetings and provide your input during the public comment period.

Community Meeting #1 will be held Monday (11/1) at 6:00pm in the school board auditorium at 40 Orange Street, St. Augustine and virtual via webex.

Community Meeting #2 will be held on Tuesday (11/2) at 6:00pm at Nease High School.

Joint Meeting of the County Commissioners and School Board Members will be held on Tuesday (11/2) at 1:30pm in the BCC Auditorium at 500 San Sebastian View, St. Augustine.

FDP LEADERSHIP BLUE: DEC. 3-5, 2021

The Florida Democratic Party is excited to share that its annual Leadership Blue Weekend has been re-scheduled for December 3-5, 2021 at the Rosen Plaza Hotel in Orlando, FL -- with the signature Leadership Blue Gala taking place on Saturday, December 4th at the Orange County Convention Center.

You can visit www.LeadershipBlue.com for the most up to date information about the weekend, including hotel accommodations, schedules and speakers.
VOTER REGISTRATION OPPORTUNITIES
We face unprecedented challenges from our Governor and Republican controlled legislature. From adopting voter suppression laws to blatantly manipulating voter registration lists, they are engaging, not surprisingly, in a shameless, win at all costs assault. We need to fight back! We start by registering new voters, enrolling existing voters in Vote By Mail and reactivating our inactive Democrats.

We have two opportunities to register voters in November at the Farmer's Market in St. Augustine! Please click on this link to view the options and sign up.
DEC VACCINE CLINIC
A BIG THANK YOU to Robbin Bray and Michelle Scott of Ready Health and Wellness and to all of the DEC volunteers and participants in our successful COVID Vaccine Clinic on October 4th! More than 50 people from all over the county registered for the clinic or walked in. After their vaccinations, DEC volunteers did an outstanding job offering each person assistance in checking and updating their voter registration status, requesting a mail ballot, and learning more about St. Johns Democrats!

BANS OFF OUR BODIES RALLY
Our Bodies, Our Choice! rang out in St. Augustine after an estimated 250 people marched from the plaza down St. George Street to the Castillo de San Marcos. Standing in solidarity with women in Texas who are now subject to an extreme abortion ban, several speakers from young to old made their voices heard. Even as Florida begins considering a similar ban, we will continue to fight for the freedom to control our own bodies.
