Eviction Prevented: Mr H Stays in his Home
Thanks to generous supporters and donors, LASP is able to provide real solutions to people like Mr. H*.

Mr. H's serious health issues were exacerbated by a severe bed bug infestation in his public housing apartment.  After complaining to the management office numerous times with no response, Mr. H stopped payment of rent which resulted in an eviction notice.

Mr. H's LASP advocate gave him information about how to set up a proper escrow account, urged him to pay his rent immediately, and advised him to send his landlord a notice that he would be withholding rent if the problem was not addressed before the next rent period. By the following month, the problem was resolved. The bedbugs were eliminated and Mr. H remained securely in his apartment.

Help keep more people in their homes this year by donating now to LASP. Your donation truly helps!

Name has been changed but the story is real.

LASP to Expand Services with Funding from VOCA
LASP will be expanding services for victims of domestic violence as a result of grant funding from the Victims of Crimes Act (VOCA).  V OCA was established in 1984 to help victims and victim service providers with program funding.

This funding will enable us to hire attorneys for our Bucks County, Norristown and Media offices, and a  paralegal for our Norristown office.  The attorneys and paralegal will provide legal advice and representation to victims of domestic violence.
Highlights from the Counties
Bucks County
LASP's Rodlena Sales, Esq. made a presentation about public benefits to staff members of A Woman's Place, a domestic violence community benefit organization in Doylestown. Understanding benefits available through the Department of Public Welfare may be critical for victims who must figure out how to live independently from the batterer.
Chester County

We are fortunate to have the support of MacElree Harvey, Ltd., Gawthrop Greenwood, PC, and the Chester County Paralegal Association, who sponsored the"Taste of Chester County" Silent Auction Fundraiser to benefit LASP. Thank you for helping us make justice real for those who need it most!
