Musical runs July 19 – 24

“Try To Remember” a time when this romantic charmer wasn’t enchanting audiences around the world. The Fantasticks is the longest-running musical in the world and with good reason: at the heart of its breathtaking poetry and subtle theatrical sophistication is a purity and simplicity that transcends cultural barriers. The result is a timeless fable of love that manages to be nostalgic and universal at the same time.
Guest Speaker & Meeting
July 19 at 5:15pm

Barbara Proctor will be the speaker for the July 19th meeting of BPWEV at The Plantation Golf and Country Club, 500 Rockley Blvd. in Venice, beginning with networking at 5:15 pm and followed by a speaker and business meeting.

Barbara Proctor has more than 20 years of experience in telecommunications. She was promoted from bookkeeper to Regional Vice President in less than 45 months by overcoming self doubts and imposter syndrome to ask for the promotion. Barbara achieved this while raising three children, graduating from college with a second degree and building her career. In addition to her professional accomplishments, Barbara has facilitated workshops on various topics important to women in their lives and careers. She has participated in mentorship programs as both a mentee and a mentor and created mentorship programs for small businesses to assist with succession planning. Barbara is passionate about mentoring women to help them to further their careers and achieve their dream lives!

Esther Bird, President BPWEV, Henie Ganski, Development Coordinator at Charlotte County Homeless Coalition and Sue Hogrefe, First Vice President BPWEV.
The Business and Professional Women of Englewood and Venice recently met for their monthly meeting on June 21 at Plantation Golf and Country Club. The speaker was Heidi Ganski representing The Charlotte County Homeless Coalition as Development Coordinator. The coalition can currently house 62 people and provide lunches to over 600 daily and they give over 1,200 food boxes per month.

BPWEV did a community Outreach Program in June to benefit TWIG Cares. Dianne Weed, the founder of TWIG also attended the meeting to pick up donations from the members. TWIG Cares is a non-profit organization that supports children in the foster care program and provides the children with clothing items every month. TWIG currently serves over 300 students in foster care with a facility in Venice and a new location in Bradenton. The foster care students shop at these facilities for clothing, shoes, toys and books among other items to help children in foster care arise above the circumstances in which they find themselves. TWG helps these children to believe in themselves and in their future.
Megan Canevan was awarded a scholarship from BPWEV to assist her while she is attending University of South Florida and will be graduating in May of 2023. Ms. Canevan expressed her gratitude in receiving a scholarship to assist in her studies in healthcare.
