2021 CDA Annual Session Goes Virtual (again)
After weighing the pros and cons and evaluating the health risks that will still be present in June, the CDA has made the difficult decision to convert its June Annual Session to a virtual meeting. The House of Delegates, the CDA's governing meeting, will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021 via Zoom. If you would like to serve as a delegate at this year's House, please contact your local dental component society leadership. More details coming soon.

Thank You Denver Health and Thank You COMOM!
After conducting a survey of members and learning that one third of dentists and their teams continued to struggle to obtain a COVID-19 vaccine, the CDA contacted CDPHE to make state officials aware of this issue and the frustrations that dental professionals are facing. In response, CDPHE issued this letter to all Colorado hospitals last Wednesday, making it clear that dental professionals have vaccine priority. Read More.

Taxpayer Certainty and Disaster Tax Relief Act of 2020
The Taxpayer Certainty and Disaster Tax Relief (TCDTR) Act of 2020 was enacted Dec. 27, 2020 to provide tax relief in the form of tax credits for eligible employers. A tax credit is extremely favorable and really encourages employers to retain workers on payroll, inline with the spirit of relief acts passed during 2020. HPV Dental Pilot Education Program
Dental providers are in a unique position to provide patient education to prevent or reduce the risk of potential oral health issues, including oral cancers. The Alliance for HPV Free Colorado aims to ensure all Coloradans are protected against HPV-related cancers. In collaboration with dental partners, it has developed a dental pilot program offering HPV education and is recruiting dental offices to participate. Read more.

In Memoriam: Dr. James H. Pearce Jr. (1930-2021)
Dr. James Pearce, a retired endodontist and CDA past president (1986-1987) passed away at the age of 90. A 1955 graduate of Northwestern University Dental School, Dr. Pearce served two years in the Dental Corps of the U.S. Air Force, then practiced privately in Denver until 1990. Dr. Pearce was a past president of the CDA, the Rocky Mountain Dental Study Club and the Denver Dental Forum. Read more.
