How does air quality impact those with asthma?

Poor air quality can affect anyone -- but it can be particularly troublesome to those with asthma. According to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, asthma is the top reason for missed school days. In 2013, about 13.8 million missed school days were reported due to asthma.

Why is Coco Orange?
Coco has a problem. He’s a chameleon but he can’t change colors. His asthma is also acting up.

Asthma Demonstration
According to the American Lung Association, asthma is the most common chronic condition among children. It currently affects an estimated 6.1 million children under 18 years, of which 3.5 million suffered from an asthma attack or episode in 2016.

This Asthma Demonstration help students understand how air quality can affect people with asthma.

This guide was created in partnership with the Spokane Regional Health District. It helps explain activity levels and gives recommendations when air quality reaches specific thresholds.
