ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY

Bi-weekly Thursdays
11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. MT

January 28: Wyoming Assistive Technology Resources for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and Speech Generating Devices (SGD's) Presenter: Terri Wofford, M.S., CCC-SLP - Join this session for an overview of low/mid/high tech AAC items and SGD's available from the Wyoming Assistive Technology Resources program.

The University of Wyoming ECHO in Assistive Technology (UW ECHO in AT) provides training and the sharing of best practices for educators and service providers to consider, implement and evaluate the use of assistive technology to improve outcomes for students.

Network participants include assistive technology professionals, specialists and teams, school administrators, general and special education teachers, para-educators, case managers, school counselors, school psychologists, state agency staff, and special education service providers, including OTs, PTs, SLPs, etc.

Credits offered:
PTSB and STARS. A graduate credit is offered at an additional expense to the participant. A certificate of attendance will be provided at the end of the Fall and Spring sessions. 

Certificate Offered for Viewing Previously Recorded Sessions:
ECHO AT Asynchronous Learning: This course is provided for the residents of Wyoming and offers participants an opportunity to view previously recorded UW ECHO in AT didactic sessions from the Fall 2020-Spring 2021 sessions. Wyoming participants who successfully complete the module activities will be awarded a Certificate of Completion for one contact hour for continuing education per module.

Open Labs will continue to be provided through Zoom distance technology on
Wednesdays and Thursdays between and 2-4 p.m. until further notice. Ongoing device sanitization procedures will continue.

Jan. 13 & 14: WeWalk Smart Cane - This smart cane assists visually impaired individuals to walk more independently and safely using the WeWalk Smart Cane and the mobile app installed on IOS or Android smartphone.

Jan. 20 & 21: WATR’s Reuse Program and AT for Sale - WATR has lightly-used assistive technology (AT) for sale at a low cost to Wyoming residents. This AT was moved into our reuse program from our loan program or was donated by individuals who are no longer in need of their AT. Many devices are for low vision, daily living, learning, or communication.

Jan. 27 & 28: Wyoming Assistive Technology Resources for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and Speech Generating Devices (SGD's) - See what low/mid/high tech AAC items and SGD's are available in the WATR short-term loan program. Also, consider registering for our ECHO in AT session on AAC and SGD devices, Thursday, January 28 at 11 a.m. MT with Terri Wofford, M.S., CCC-SLP, Speech-Language Pathologist with the Wyoming Institute for Disabilities (WIND) and the Wyoming Assistive Technology Resources (WATR).

The WATR Reuse Program is looking for lightly-used assistive technology to make available to others who could benefit from the use of those devices or technologies in their daily lives. Donated devices will be sanitized prior to sale.
