Who’s STILL the best?

Have you ever asked, “Who’s the best?” When it comes to school and educating children, we all know that Aspen View Academy is the best. You experience your child’s success every day when they return home from school and share what an amazing day they had. Recently, AVA was again recognized by the Colorado Community Media as the BEST SCHOOL IN CASTLE ROCK. This is the third year in the row that we have been honored with that distinction. What a great affirmation and honor for our school. To me, this distinction validates everything we do as a school and everything we do for our students. However, this does not happen by accident.

I am also pleased to announce that Ashley Chambless was recognized as the best teacher in Castle Rock for the second year in a row. What a great honor for an amazing teacher. Mrs. Chambless truly goes above and beyond for her students and being recognized as the best teacher in Castle Rock is a very fitting honor.

What makes AVA so special and worthy of such praise? It begins with the incredible students that enter our doors every single day. They come to school motivated and ready to learn. They know they will be greeted as they enter and know they belong. Students at AVA are not only allowed to but are encouraged to take chances. Teachers and Paras work diligently planning meaningful lessons and going the extra mile to make sure that all can succeed. We set high expectations for our students which is so important. More importantly, the staff provides the resources and materials that enable all students to meet and achieve those high expectations. We also have a great support staff who also help make sure AVA is in top shape and ready for students and learning.

There is a saying that it takes a village to raise a child and this is more important than ever as we move forward with educating our students during a pandemic. It takes a dedicated and amazing staff to grow a student. Each and every person at AVA goes above and beyond the call of duty to make sure all of our students have a successful educational experience at AVA. We are fortunate to have a governing board made up of dedicated parents who donate their time to ensure the long-term success of our school.

Finally, thank you to our parents who stand behind us and support us. The last three years have been outstanding, and this year will be amazing even though it looks different than in years past.

HVAC Update - Excellent News!

AVA has been working hard and will continue working hard on our layers of health protocols for our students, staff, and, parents. At the July board meeting, we shared that we approved an upgrade to our HVAC system by installing a Needlepoint Bipolar Air Ionization system to each of our roof top units. We have an exciting update regarding that.

The Needlepoint Bipolar Air Ionization (NPBI) system was installed on AVA’s roof top units today!!!

As a reminder, there are 4 huge benefits with the addition of this system:
  1. Pathogen Killing – including COVID-19
  2. Odor reduction
  3. Allergy reduction
  4. Energy Savings

Per Carrier:
  • The addition of the NBPI system will capture about 90% of pathogen contamination. Currently with a filter only system (MERV 8 filters) we capture 11% of pathogens.
  • Air change occurs, on average, 7 times per hour per area for each RTU.
  • By applying certain air quality technologies the Federal Government’s test recent results are now showing a 99.4% deactivation rate of SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) within 30 minutes.

School Pool

We are pleased to announce our partnership with the Schoolpool program to assist parents that are interested in carpooling, walking, or biking to and from school with other families. Schoolpool is sponsored by Way to Go, a program of the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG).

The program works as follows:
  1. We will submit our family list to Way to Go to be imported into their secure mapping website. It will include parent and student names, grades, addresses, phone numbers and emails to be shared with other AVA families.
  2. Parents will receive an email from Way to Go informing you of the closest AVA families. If you don’t have an email address, the information will be sent via U.S. Mail.
  3. Through a secure website, you can add comments to your account (i.e., can provide morning rides, student is in after school activities, carpool is full, etc.), search other addresses (i.e., second household, grandparents, etc.) and elect to share your information with families at other schools.

Note: Your information will only be shared with AVA families; Way to Go will not sell it to other businesses, agencies or third parties. Likewise, we ask you to treat the information with privacy. There is no obligation to participate. The information is a great resource to meet nearby AVA families for other reasons such as temporary transportation needs, play dates, baby sitters, summer BBQs, etc. If you are interested in participating, you will need to take the initiative to contact families to determine interest and make arrangements.

To OPT OUT of School Pool please complete this form no later than August 14th.

If you have any questions regarding School Pool please email Sheri Cahill.

Middle School Sports
Middle School Sports

Due to the concern for the safety of our students, and following CHSAA guidelines, all middle school sports will be put on pause until January. We are currently in the process of reformatting seasons, so we can have an opportunity to still participate in all sports that AVA typically offers. If your student is interested in participating in a sport in the spring, please consider turning in their sports physical this fall, to avoid the rush.

If you have any questions please contact Lindsay Alguire at lalguire@aspenviewacademy.org.
