St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish
Bringing People Into A Growing Relationship With Jesus Christ
|
|
We’re so glad you’ve chosen St. Elizabeth Ann Seton as your parish!
We exist to bring people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. We do that by providing authentic hospitality, giving our gifts sacrificially and helping each other grow through prayer, learning, sharing and witnessing. We pray you always feel that you belong here.
Join us on-line or in person this weekend! If you join us in person, we strongly encourage wearing a mask to protect the most vulnerable (children, elderly, etc.) in our parish from contracting Covid-19.
We would love it if you served as a minister during Mass! Sign up here.
After Mass, join us at Seton Sweets Fellowship for cookies on Saturday and donuts on Sunday!

Thank You Phil!
Phil Carver has been invited to serve as the Director of Music at First United Methodist Church in Iowa City and he has accepted the opportunity. He will continue in his current role until the end of October.
We are grateful for the blessing he has been to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton for the last two years. His musical talent has brought joy to many during Mass and his organizational skills and the peace he exudes is appreciated by everyone in the office and the singers he works with. He will be greatly missed. We wish him the best as he pursues this new path God has guided him to follow. Please keep him in your prayers as he transitions to this new opportunity.

Mt. Calvary Fall Clean Up
Prior to October 15th, please remove all items you wish to keep that are decorating your loved ones' grave site. The cemetery will be completely cleared of all decorations starting October 15th. In-ground vases will be turned down until spring usage. After November 15th, wreaths, mounds and evergreen blankets may be placed to remain until the spring clean-up. Call the Mt. Calvary Cemetery Association at 319-362-4659 with questions.

Anointing of the Sick
The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick will be offered at all Masses on the weekend of October 23rd and 24th. A person does not have to be near death to be anointed. The elderly (because of the aging process), those who have a serious or chronic illness (physical or mental), or those who will undergo surgery soon are encouraged to receive the Sacrament of Anointing.
Those who request to be anointed, do so with complete faith in God, not waiting until their deathbed, as was the practice long ago when the sacrament was called "Extreme Unction."
This Sacrament is for the living and reminds the anointed they are not alone or forgotten. They are part of the whole community and supported by prayers and assistance that is available to them.

Xavier Impact Fund Phone Calls Underway
Our mighty St. Elizabeth Ann Seton volunteers are keeping their social distance by making phone calls to parishioners from the safety of their homes now through November 1 to ask for financial support of the Xavier Impact Fund (formerly called parish appeal). Gifts to the Xavier Impact Fund are tax deductible and make an impact on family financial assistance, teacher endowment, and faith/academic advancement at Xavier High School. If we meet our XIF St. Elizabeth Ann Seton goal of $97,500, every dollar raised after will go back to the parish to be used for whatever the greatest need might be!
Gifts may be made via phone at 319-378-4571, by mailing your gift to Xavier Foundation, PO Box 10956, Cedar Rapids, IA, 52410 or by visiting www.XavierSaints.org/Impact today. Thank you for your prayerful and financial support!
