Christmas Eve Candle Pick Up |
With all that we have been putting aside for the sake of safety, we want everyone to share in the lighting of a candle on Christmas Eve during our livestream service at 3:30 p.m.
All are welcome to stop by the church between now and Sunday, December 20 at 5:00 p.m. to pick up one candle and wax catcher per family member. The candles will be in a plastic bin at the North Entrance of the church.
We welcome you to light a candle with us during our closing song on Christmas Eve.

SPARK Lesson: "Angels Visit" |
This Sunday, during the Children’s Message, Pastor Reggie will be reading Luke 1: 26-38 from our SPARK Story Bibles. Be sure to have yours with you and follow along! We will hear all about an angel named Gabriel who visited Mary, Jesus’ mother, to tell her that she will have a baby named Jesus. Gabriel told Mary that Jesus would be a lot like us AND a lot like God. This was amazing news and a promise that nothing is impossible with God! |

Hi Nursery Buddies and Parents!
We are in an amazing time of renewed hope. This week, I want to focus on how hope in God gives us strength, patience, and encouragement. It is also important to know the difference between having hope in the world and having hope in God. So, let us look at this scripture:
Read: John 10:11-18
This verse is an excellent example of how the world is the “hired hand” and God is the Good Shepard.
Having hope in the world can look like this:
“I hope tomorrow is a better day.” God says to take care of today and not to worry about tomorrow (Matthew 6:34). Also, that might not happen, right? Tomorrow might not be a better day but having hope in God is knowing that He is always with us and looking out for us, working for our good. That hope will never fail us. God, the Good Shepard, does not leave us. That is a strong hope, hope of encouragement and of patience.
Another example of hope is Paul, Jesus’ friend, who was in prison for 7 years after Jesus rose from the dead. The world would say, “hope to escape or not survive” just to have it over with. But his hope in God kept him patient and strong enough to write letters to churches spreading God’s word. Paul’s encouragement passed that spirit on to keep the work of Jesus going… all the way to us now! His hope in God reaches us thousands of years later, instead of the world’s hope of it ending quickly. His patience was rewarded!
Activity: Here is a Hope in God bookmark that you can use in your own Bible to mark a message of hope that you find! Color it any way you want!

The World is About to Turn!
"In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town in Galilee called Nazareth,
to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David.
The virgin’s name was Mary."
Have you ever thought of the Virgin Mary as radical? There are lots of communities dedicated to adoring her, especially among our Catholic and Anglican brothers and sisters, and I seem to hear a lot about her piety, humility, and obedience. Note the first line of her song, “My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.” But later she says, “God has shown strength with his arm; God has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts. God has brought down the powerful from their thrones and lifted up the lowly; God has filled the hungry with good things and sent the rich away empty.” Not terribly pious or humble, huh? Knowing that I live in the richest, most powerful country in the world, I can only say, “Ouch!”
Our hymn following the sermon is a setting of this text, the Magnificat, Luke 1:46-55. We sing it to a vigorous Irish tune that feels very much like a beer-drinking song. There is something very appropriate in singing this text of justice and inclusion to music indicative of a country with a long history of being oppressed by her neighbor to the east. It helps me remember Jesus as both Prince of Peace and Disturber of the Peace, who can both comfort us in our sorrows and disturb us in our comforts. As 2020 has been a difficult year, I take great comfort in the recurring phrase, “the world is about to turn.”
Take a listen. If you’ve been at Crown for a while, I’m sure you’ll recognize it. If not, you now have a great new ear worm. On Sunday, please sing along. It is better as a congregation song, than a solo.

Kitchen Essentials Ministry |
Although it has looked different than years past, Crown of Glory’s Kitchen Essentials Ministry has continued to serve those in need in our community. We have assisted nine households during the last month!
At this time we are accepting donations at Furnishare, 7890 Market Blvd., Chanhassen during their store hours. We are especially in need of toasters, coffee pots and silverware sets. We would also be grateful for Target, Kohl’s, Walmart or Amazon gift cards to purchase needed items.
