Foundation's Support for SJ Learns in '21-'22 Academic Year Announced
The Library Foundation has approved awards committing $1.1M to support programming efforts across 7 local education agencies, serving approximately 1,035 students during the 21-22 academic year. Funds also supported summer programming efforts in 2 districts, reaching approximately 210 students. San José Learns grants will be used to support after school curriculum for TK-3rd grade students who are academically struggling in low-income schools as part of the SJ Learns program.
"I have never ever had results like what I'm seeing my students achieve. In two weeks time, my students were learning to read and retaining what was taught! I’ve always focused on my struggling readers, but this model has allowed me to help all my students grow and now I also have students reading 2 years above grade level!"
