Greetings!

Please see the following notice for the next Coalition Power Breakfast to be held, virtually, on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at our regularly scheduled time for the Breakfast Program.

During these deadly challenging times, there are activities and events we all would like to count on, things that are a part of our lives pre-pandemic; we want the COAL Power Breakfasts to be one of those for you - sharing knowledge, generating substantive conversation, facilitating networking and fellowship, working with you to identify actions toward improving the lives of black folk and, importantly, speaking truth, " straight, no chaser ".

P lease join us for the May Breakfast, featuring the recognized Healthcare thought-leader, expert administrator and practitioner, Dr. Terry Mason. We expect an informative and engaging experience for all.

And please see included articles of import, as well as the TED video.

Respectfully,
COAL Board of Directors

COAL strongly urges its members and community-of-interest to support our black owned businesses and self-employed professionals and tradesmen, throughout these deadly challenging times. As always, any adverse impact on our economy, disproportionately impacts our black-owned businesses. - We know this. -
Therefor, let's all step up and find safe ways to spend our dollars supporting black-owned businesses.
BTW - let's not forget that many across our community perform various odd jobs as their only source of income. Please keep these hard hit entrepreneurs in mind.

Is Our Government For Us or Against Us?

In April 1968, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. told a group of striking sanitation workers in Memphis, Tennessee: “We’ve got to give ourselves to this struggle until the end. Nothing would be more tragic than to stop at this point in Memphis. We’ve got to see it through.” King believed that the struggle in Memphis exposed the need for economic equality and social justice that he hoped his Poor People’s Campaign would highlight nationally. Today, we have to reignite the Poor People's Campaign and come together to defeat attacks on the heart and soul of America's families.

What We Believe
The Coalition of African American Leaders believes that it is important to examine the critical issues confronting the African American community where injustice, inequality and the absence of access and opportunity continue to prevail, thereby negatively impacting us as a people. COAL is an assemblage that advocates and organizes for appropriate and responsible public policy change, system behavior change and equality of opportunity. We aim to achieve for all of our people the fullness of the life experience without any form of racism or exclusion as a deterrent. We believe we must prepare ourselves for the opportunity of this full participation, thereby achieving the necessary education and training to participate.
