As the situation with COVID-19 continues to unfold, I wanted to give you a quick update on how we’re responding as a church.

In compliance with the directives of our local government, all services and activities between now and May 14 th have been canceled. However, our worship continues! It is our mission to bring life-changing hope, to an ever-changing people, through the unchanging gospel and we will be faithful to our mission.

While we cannot gather to worship together on the Lord’s Day, we will be livestreaming a service at 10:45am each Sunday. We’ll be emailing you a link to the livestream on Sunday morning and you will also be able to join the livestream from our website or our Facebook page.

On Sunday, Bryan Moore and a small praise band will lead us in singing:

His Mercy is More
How Great Thou Art
He Will Hold Me Fast
Blessed Be Your Name
Rescuer

Pastor David will also be streaming a Bible Life lesson on our Facebook page immediately before the service at 9:30am on Sundays. You will be able to participate by asking questions in the comments.

In addition, each week we will have the following resources available on our Facebook page:

·       2 video lessons from Sandra for preschoolers and one accompanying activity
·       2 video lessons from Ethan for K-5 th graders and one accompanying activity
·       1 video lesson for youth from Greg along with a livestreamed youth group on Wednesday evenings
·       2 livestreamed bible studies led by Aaron allowing your participation by asking questions in the comments

Pastor David will be working with each Bible Life class to coordinate an action plan for you to care well for one another over the next several weeks.

We are also in the process of developing a new website that will be solely dedicated to meeting the needs of not only our membership but our neighbors. The site will be a place where people can find someone to help with delivery of groceries, someone to offer a friendly phone call each week to check in on them and encourage them, and to request financial assistance.

Hays Hills, what is most important to me in this time is that we take the posture of generosity. When everyone else is nervous about the future, nervous about the economy, and as a result starts to hold onto things with a clenched fist, it is time for the people of God to give generously with open hands. The Lord has provided so abundantly for us that we are in a position of financial strength and we ought to use that strength to give generously.

I believe it is more important for us to give to the church now than ever before. As we give we are empowered to meet more needs of our membership and of our community. While you cannot give in the service on Sunday morning, you can still give online through our website, on your smartphone through the ChurchCenter App, or by mailing a check to the church office.

In this world we will have trouble, but praise the Lord, He has overcome and given us His peace! (John 16:33)
