Los Angeles Southwest College's (LASC) Spring Semester classes begin the week of February 8 and are a great way to get started or continue toward your goal of getting the education you need to acquire your degree, earn a promotion, start a new career, and so much more. 
LASC Gets Ready To Celebrate Black History Month
Celebrate Black History Month throughout February with the LASC Cougars! The festivities kick off with a welcome event at 11 a.m. February 1 on Zoom as our HBCU alumni and campus community share the purpose and pride of attending historically black colleges and universities. Make sure to attend and participate at all of the events this month.

LASC Theater Program Honored For Virtual Performance
LASC has once again garnered accolades and honors from Kennedy Center American College Region VIII Theatre Festival organizers, this time following the stellar production of “The Threat” in which students confronted recent cases of police brutality against African Americans from the virtual stage.
LASC Nursing Student Passes Away From COVID-19
LASC is saddened to announce the passing of one of its nursing students, Obafemi Omolade, who died in December from COVID-19 complications. Omolade’s classmates have set up a GoFundMe page to assist his family with financial burdens related to his passing.
Zero Cost Textbooks Available This Spring
LASC will offer many zero-textbook cost (ZTC) and open educational resources' (OER) courses this Spring Semester. All of these free textbooks and course materials can be accessed digitally via Canvas.
Loaner Laptops Available For Students This Spring
In the interest of furthering the educational objectives of students, LASC's Library will make available a Google Chromebook or Surface Go for one academic year for students actively enrolled at the college.

LASC Hosts COVID-19 Vaccination Center
LASC in partnership with Kroger Health will host a COVID-19 vaccination center on February 2-3 and February 9-10. Initial availability is only for locals who are 65 years old and older and you must register before going to campus.

Cast Your State Senate District 30 Ballot At LASC's Lakin Center
LASC's Lakin Fitness and Wellness Center gymnasium will serve as a polling place for the upcoming state Senate District 30 election. Voters can cast their ballots from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. February 20 to March 1 as well as from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Election Day, March 2.

  • February 8: Residency reclassification deadline for Spring Semester
  • February 8: Spring Semester begins
  • February 12: President’s Day recognized. LASC closed.
  • February 13-14: Non-Instruction days
  • February 15: President’s Day recognized. LASC closed.
  • February 21: Deadline to drop without a “W” grade for Spring Semester
  • February 21: Deadline to petition for course” Credit/ No Credit” or audit for Spring Semester
  • February 22: Deadline to add a class for Spring Semester
  • February 23-March 26: Filing period to petition for 2021 Spring Semester graduation or certificate of completion
