FROM THE PRESIDENT
Dear PPRA Members,

The events of recent days weigh heavily on all of us who have worked tirelessly to build the brand and reputation of the Philadelphia Public Relations Association, our beloved Philadelphia region, its attractions and our businesses. But we must acknowledge that systemic injustice is a hard pill that the world can no longer swallow.

I'm very proud that the legacy of our organization has been enriched by diversity and inclusion - and by our actions - and that among our goals are positive interactions with everyone. Please tip your hat to several past presidents for their foresight in this area including Meredith Avakian, Adam Dvorin and Nina Rodebaugh who moved us toward action even before it became necessary.

These times are indeed challenging. As the international travel industry has tanked, so did my recent position in the hospitality and tourism industry. Words fail to express how excited I was to work in a dream job and to travel the world telling people The Philadelphia Story.

During this year as your President, I could not have been surrounded by a more amazing group of people as we celebrated the resilience of 75 years. Our Board of Directors met and faced every challenge imaginable as we pivoted. I will detail all of our accomplishments when we toast each other on July 7.

Like PPRA, I am resilient. The distinction of being the first PPRA President of Color was never lost on me. I am just so honored to have been "Your President" and to have managed through this challenging year of disruption. In your thoughts and actions, I ask only that you #BeAnAlly.

Deirdre C. Hopkins
2019-2020 President
