FOCUS: Distance Learning in FVSD
Distance Learning

FVSD remains dedicated to supporting students during school closures by providing Distance Learning Activities.  We understand this is an unsettling time for you and your children, and want to reassure everyone that our entire FVSD staff is committed to continuing to support student learning.

Please know that student work during closures is not required and will not be graded.  Additionally, our goal is to provide families of elementary-aged students with approximately two-hours of content per day and middle school students with no more than 30-minutes of learning activities per content area on a daily basis.  The resources shared here are intended to support student learning during the week of March 23rd to 27th.

ELEMENTARY GRADES MIDDLE SCHOOL GRADES
 Transitional Kindergarten Sixth Grade
Kindergarten Seventh Grade
First Grade Eighth Grade

To access this information online, please visit our website here.  Beginning March 30th, your family will receive Distance Learning Activities directly from your student's classroom teacher(s).

Given the stress for students and parents caused by the current situation, families may find benefit in developing a schedule during school closures.  Below is a sample schedule.  A Word Doc of this schedule is also available here to edit as you see best fit for your family.

SPOTLIGHT: Student Meal Program in FVSD
Student Meal Program

This program will be solely for the pickup of meals and meals will not be consumed on site. We encourage families to continue to be proactive in reducing the risk of COVID-19 by not congregating at the school site once meals have been distributed.  In addition, continue to wash your hands often, sneeze or cough into a tissue and stay at home if you are sick.   Meals will include an entree, fruit, vegetables and milk. Children must be present in the car in order for meals to be provided.
FOR PARENTS AND STUDENTS: Staying Connected
Staying Connected

We are committed to continuing to provide updates to all of our families on a weekly basis.  The most current information will be housed on our website, www.fvsd.us, which can be accessed in 53 languages.  In addition, your school website is a wonderful source of information. Lastly, below you will find an opportunity to forward this newsletter to friends.  Please share with as many family and community members as you would like.  Those interested can opt in to continue to receive updates and newsletters.

District Office staff will return to the office on a limited basis.  Our skeleton crew will be available remotely, where possible.  For assistance, please email [email protected]

Masuda ASB President Andrew Hsieh

As we all continue to look for ways to adapt to the current situation and more so, seek opportunities to connect with one another, smile throughout the day and laugh at the little things, we are pleased to share Masuda ASB President Andrew Hsieh's recent message to his peers.  Andrew reminds us all of ways to cope but more so, the resiliency of our students in the face of unique challenges.

We would love to celebrate all of the ways that your students are continuing to be creative and caring while away from school.  If you have videos or photos of your students learning while at home, your family spending time together in new ways, or any moment that brings a smile to your face, share it with us.  Email your videos and photos to [email protected].  While this may feel like a new world, thriving through challenge is a part of our District's history, and truly #TheFVSDWay.
