Board approves 2nd semester to start on Jan. 11

The School Board last night approved moving the start of the second semester to Monday, Jan. 11. Originally, students were scheduled to return to classes on Jan. 6.

This extension of the winter break allows for more time following potential group gatherings over the holidays of Christmas and New Year's Day.

Students will not have in-person or virtual classes on Jan. 6, 7, and 8. The first day of school will be Jan. 11. This change does not extend the school year.

Limited opportunities for child care will be available for students in K-5 on Jan. 6, 7, and 8. More information will come to parents of elementary school students about child care.

Teachers and other staff will return to work on Jan. 5.

Another change for second semester will be virtual instruction for elementary students on three Fridays: Feb. 26, March 19, and April 23. These dates will be similar to the virtual instruction Fridays implemented this month.
