Things to Do
Jupiter Inlet Boat Rental by Tana Gaskill

If you are looking for something different to do this season with Covid restrictions in place, try out the Jupiter Inlet Boat Rental next to U-Tiki by the Jupiter Bridge for a day of relaxation on the Intracoastal. My family rented a boat over the holidays for six adults and three children to take a leisurely cruise on the Waterway. We supplied our own coolers with lunch, snacks and drinks. They provided a very roomy boat with adult life vests and we rented vests for the babies. We traveled to Pecks Lake, which is a section of the Intracoastal that is very wide and north of Hobe Sound and has a sandy beach. We anchored there for lunch and several of us actually went into the water, which was surprisingly warmer than the air. My five year old grandson had a great time exploring the beach and collecting shells and rocks, which became treasures. After lunch we headed back south to Jupiter and toured the Loxahatchee River before returning to the boat ramp. A good day was had by all with plenty of fresh air, sunshine and a brief feeling of normalcy without masks. Read more details below. I highly recommend that you try this adventure.

Some of the boating excursions for half or full day are cruising north from their dock, past the lighthouse, the Intracoastal waterway takes you along the shores of Jupiter Island where you will see some of the most impressive homes and estates in Florida. If you feel like jumping into the water and cooling off, you will find sandbars and sandy beaches along your way north. Further north you enter the unspoiled natural beauty of the St. Lucie Inlet State Park in nature preserve. This is truly a world away from the every day, where Osprey, Bald Eagle, Blue Heron and Egrets are common sites. Don’t be surprised if along the way you see dolphins and manatee.

A favorite destination heading north is Peck’s Lake. Here you can beach the boat on the Intracoastal side of the barrier island and walk 150 feet through the dunes to a pristine 5 mile long oceanfront beach. There are no buildings, roads are cars on this unspoiled beach, only access is by boat. Should you get hungry, they can recommend some waterside restaurants where you dock the boat and have lunch on the water.

If you choose to sample civilization, you can cruise south from our location to find terrific dockside restaurants, beautiful waterfront communities and visit peanut island with that you unique charm … picnic facilities and protected swimming and snorkeling areas. The waters around palm beach and Jupiter have that unmistakable tropical feel; you’ll swear your boating in the islands.

REAL ESTATE TRENDS
BallenIsles Sales - 2020 Summary

In the midst of a pandemic, this was a banner year! Travel and showings were severely restricted but believe it or not, several properties were purchased by FaceTime. Compare this year's total of ?? sales with the inclusion of ? sales not in the MLS to 2019 of 81. The trend is solid with a 10% increase in sales over the past year. Inventory is at an all time low with only 34 properties currently on the market compared to 66 properties at this time last year. This is be far the lowest inventory in a community of over 1580 residences that we remember. Compare the 2020 average list/sold price $708,038/$645,607 and average cumulative days on the market of 157 to the 2019 average list/sold price $710,500/$630,500 and average market time of 172 days. The market is certainly holding fairly steady and showing early signs of strong growth with much shorter marketing periods. Remember, the majority of these sales occured during a period of no or limited access to Club amenities. No doubt the lure of sunshine and warm weather along with the prospect of an eventual end to the pandemic have spurred sales. It is certainly a good time to reassess your needs and perhaps make a move.
