Letter 101 to an unnamed Brother
On behalf of our Board of Trustees, Administration, Faculty, Staff and Students I pray that you and your loved ones are doing well during this challenging time. As the world faces uncertainty, we turn to God for guidance, hope and the peace that the resurrection of our Lord brings us.
Hope is the foundation of our work at The De La Salle School. We see hope in the eyes and smiles of the young men entrusted to our care. Hope for a brighter future, hope for a better tomorrow. Under the leadership of our Principal, Mrs. Jeanmarie Becker, our wonderful faculty continue to bring that hope to the 64 young men currently enrolled in grades 5 through 8. Our students were given Chromebooks and packages of assignments when leaving our doors on 13 March. Teachers and students are connecting daily via Google Classroom continuing their education by completing assignments, learning new skills and submitting homework. Mrs. Becker and our faculty are in continuous contact with our students and their families ensuring that no child falls behind in his studies. We are truly blessed to have such a dedicated team. On Saturday, 21 March the faculty gathered via Google Meetings to assess the week and to strategize for the following week. We will continue to meet remotely to provide insight and best practices to one another during these unfortunate days.
Teachers are using various methods to creatively present information so that learning continues without interruption. I could not be more grateful for their service, generosity of time and their professionalism.
As we navigate these challenging times, know that your support is more crucial than ever. Our mission to "share in the Lasallian heritage and exist to provide a quality education for young men from economically disadvantaged circumstances" - continues daily. While our fixed costs and expenses remain stable our ability to garner donations has been hampered by these difficult times. We hope that we can count on your continued support of the young men that God has entrusted to our care with a gift of Hope today.
