Election of Officers & Trustees

In early July the Nomination Committee sent out notices inviting interested members to apply for Flag Officer or Board of Trustee positions.  The number of applicants that applied this year for the Flag Officer & Board of Director positions were just enough to fill all open positions.

This year we have five Board of Director seats to fill.  Three of those seats are 3-year terms, one seat is a 2-year term, and one seat is a 1-year term.   Two of our applicants have agreed to take the seats of the 2-year and 1-year term.  Therefore, since all Flag Officer positions & Board seats are running unopposed, there is no need to hold an election of Officers in 2020.  The Secretary will cast the only vote at the Annual Meeting making these Flag Officer & Board positions official.

Please find below the details of the new Flag Officers & Board positions with bios & resumes for each candidate.

Board of Trustees

Michael Bradley 3-Year Term

My name is Michael Bradley, and my wife Linda and I built our first home in Sea Isle home in 1997, and have had a home here ever since and we now live at 4482 Venicean Road in Sea isle, 3 doors from the Yacht Club. Our permanent home is in Havertown PA.

We have been members of the club for 20 years and I have served as a Board Member the past two years.  Prior to joining the Board in 2018, I served on the Membership Committee and the Entertainment Committee for a number of years.  I also help run the Irish Nights and the Comedy nights with Joe Conklin at the Club for the last few years. We used our home in Sea Isle as the office for the Yacht Club while it was being built, so I was involved in a lot of logistics while the new club was being built. I also served on the New Building Committee from start to completion, and am very proud of the results from that very productive committee.

I was requested to chair the acrimonious meeting that occurred prior to the club being torn down which resulted in the positive voting for the new club being built. At the time there was a difficult environment between some board members and the general membership, and I was able to control the room. I did however allow for everyone's feelings to be heard, both positive and negative, and help the building committee win the room for acceptance of building a new club. I say this not to pat myself on the back, there were plenty of others who helped get this new club built. But when we have difficult decisions to be made, we need men and women with leadership skills to work toward a common goal, yet also hear different opinions and come to reasonable decisions backed by good information.

I am the President / CEO of MJ Bradley Co. Inc. a flooring Company in Delaware County.
I currently serve on many boards but a few are:
Archdiocese of Philadelphia Executive Board of Education 5 years - Chair Delaware County Schools 5 years.
Penn State University President's Advisory Board, 29 years, Former President 4 years.
Philadelphia St Patrick's Day Parade - Parade Director 17 years.

These boards, with people from very diverse backgrounds and opinions, have afforded me a wealth of knowledge in dealing with large groups with strong opinions. If I am elected to the Board, I know I can be an asset to the membership of the Yacht Club of Sea Isle City.

The Yacht Club of Sea Isle City is close to my heart after working so hard with the building committee, and seeing it go from ideas to completion. It would be an honor to serve as a Trustee and give back to the Club that my family has grown to love and accept as a second home. Thank you all for your time and commitment to our Club.

Kathy Ganster 3-Year Term

Kathy Ganster was born and raised in Philadelphia.  She attended St. Mary's Academy for high school.   She earned a BA from LaSalle University, and an M.Ed from Chestnut Hill College.   She worked for the federal government for twelve years.   After staying home with her three children for several years, she became an elementary school teacher for eleven years teaching grades 4 through 8.  She was then appointed as principal of Presentation of Our Lord School in Cheltenham, PA, and then Our Lady Help of Christians in Abington, PA.  After serving as a principal for eight years, she became Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Schools for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.  She has also been an adjunct professor at Chestnut Hill College and Holy Family University.
Kathy has worked in many volunteer church, school, service, and civic organizations over the years.
She has been a member of the Yacht Club of Sea Isle City for twelve years and has volunteered on the July 4th Junior Olympics, the Fashion Show, and Family Nights.   She has enjoyed many of the social functions offered by the Club and has been an active participant in Quizzo, Mahjongg and Bridge.
She and her husband Joe have been married for 47 years and have been living in Southampton, PA for 41 years.   They have been coming to their second home in Sea Isle City for 30 years.  They have three adult daughters and eight grandchildren, who all enjoy coming to the Yacht Club.
She is looking forward to serving on the Board and supporting all the wonderful events and activities that make the club such a great place.

Tim Davis 3-Year Term

My name is Tim Davis. I am a resident of Naples, Florida and a part-time resident in Sea Isle City.  I grew up in South Jersey and attended Gloucester Catholic High School where I met my wonderful wife Mary Jane. After graduating from the University of Delaware with a degree Chemical Engineering, I started my employment with Mobil Oil in Paulsboro, NJ.  My wife and I were very lucky to have five great sons who are now all married to our lovely DILs and they have given us five Grandchildren to spoil.  While working for Mobil and subsequently Exxon Mobil after a merger of the two companies, we have lived in 5 different states in the US and almost 3 years in Saudi Arabia during an overseas assignment.  We grew up loving to go to the Jersey beach and had been lucky enough to be able to get back often during summer vacations when working, and now can enjoy SIC much more since retirement.

I had a number of Engineering and Operations assignments at a number of locations while employed for almost 39 years in ExxonMobil.  This included many Management positions that have provided me an experience background that I feel will be useful for a board position at the club.  I have also participated in my son's sports programs and have coached numerous baseball and soccer teams while they were growing up.  I volunteered to coordinate the baseball umpire group at one of our leagues and certainly learned some patience in dealing with some others that had different opinions than mine.

Mary Jane and I have been attending the Yacht Club of Sea Isle City for many years as guests and then as associate members before joining the club 3 years ago.  We have always enjoyed the summer activities as well as New Years Eve parties and Fall and Spring Flings.  I have always appreciated the work and effort done by the Flag Officers and previous Board Members to make the club such an enjoyable place to go to socialize with friends and family.  I would appreciate the opportunity to represent the members of the Yacht Club of Sea Isle City, and will always give the time and effort as a member of the board so that our club continues to be successful and a great place to visit while in SIC.
