Student Spotlight - Yijing Zhang
|
|
Hello, Raiders!
My name is Yijing Zhang, I am from China, and currently, I am pursuing my master's in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) at Wright State University. Also, I am an international check-in coordinator at the UCIE office. As an international student, I understand the difficulties that students experience when they come here and the problems they may encounter afterward. Therefore, I think this is the best opportunity to provide help and assistance to all international students at UCIE.
As we often say, interest is the best teacher. What I enjoy most in my current learning process is every time I learn something new. Of course, the difficulties and boredom in learning are sometimes unavoidable, but every time I look back and see how far I have come and what I have gained from it, I keep going. And, in the MA TESOL program, I think it's like finding a group of friends who share the same interests, and together we keep getting better and moving forward. Also, I am the vice president of the TESOL club, all interested students are welcome to join us!
I like singing, dancing, sports, painting, and playing video games. I am easy-going like making friends and like to explore new things! I now feel more and more that experiencing life and enjoying yourself is the more important thing, you have to be able to accept what you can ultimately achieve in life and what you can't, don't suffer from your limitations, and be happy is the most important thing!

A passion for research
Shashaanka Ashili first fell in love with research as a graduate student at WSU. Coming from his home country of India, where he had minimal exposure to research while he was working on his undergraduate degree, a whole new world opened up for Ashili when he began studying for his master’s degree in electrical engineering in the U.S.
