Double the help for your shelf!

In episode 8, we appeal to the inner Sam as we discuss a question left for us on Instagram: please discuss “Ottessa Moshfegh-ish literary fiction. Something grotesque and damaged but beautiful.”

In episode 7, each bookseller describes one book that is either funny and/or combines a superb balance between fun and thought based on an instagram question from Karen.

Shelf Help is a collaboration between the Book Jam, a nonprofit designed to inspire readers; CATV Upper Valley media community; three Upper Valley bookstores: Yankee Bookshop in Woodstock, VT; the Norwich Bookstore in Norwich, VT; and Still North Books & Bar in Hanover, NH.

LEARN & MAKE

@CATV's "jamLABs" with local media professionals & jam CAMPs for kids

News camp pix.jpg

jamCAMP for teens @CATV: News & Multimedia Journalism

Campers in grades 8-12 will be joined by professional journalists Maggie Cassidy (VTDigger), Jim Kenyon (Valley News), Rob Gurwitt (Daybreak), and Elizabeth Wilcox (author and journalist) for this deep dive in real reporting. Probing current issues of concern to them, campers will produce news projects across media, including text, podcasting/radio, and TV/ streaming – asking essential questions about the roles and responsibilities of “the media” in our democracy, what makes a good story, and how we know “truth” in reporting.

Directed by Tamsin Orion (documentary filmmaker) & Samantha Davidson Green (CATV executive director)
