Upcoming Implementation Science Grand Rounds
The Health Research Implementation Core of the ICTR, led by Drs. Michelle Gong and Michael Rinke, will be hosting Implementation Science Grand Rounds from 1-2PM on October 20th and will feature speaker Dr. Jennifer Stevens, healthcare delivery scientist and Director of the Center for Healthcare Delivery Science at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Her most recent research has explored the opioid epidemic in ICUs across the country; the mortality benefit of inpatient physicians knowing their patients; the patient outcomes associated with specialty care; and new ways to identify when our ICUs are strained to the point of patient harm. Biostatistics Resources Available
The Biostatistics Epidemiology and Research Design (BERD) Core has an online resource available, BERD House. This portal has resources on preparing a data set, statistical methods, statistics software, and statistics training opportunities. Additionally, faculty are encouraged to attend virtual walk-in hours over Zoom every Tuesday 3-5pm. BERD is led by Mimi Kim ScD, Director of the ICTR BERD Core and Director of Quantitative Sciences in the Biomedical Research Center. To learn more about BERD House, the BERD resource, or other ICTR resources, click here.
Recruitment Support Offered
The ICTR and the Office of Clinical Trials offer recruitment consultations for investigators and study teams. Consultations can involve education on recruitment and retention best practices, strategic planning, and implementation to assist study teams in meeting their enrollment goals. Translational Research and Therapeutics Development Program
The Office of Biotechnology and Business Development is proud to announce a joint initiative with two known venture capital firms, ​Orange Grove Bio (also a preclinical drug discovery firm) and AlleyCorp, to kick off its pilot partnership program in
 
Program Goal:
The program aims to promote innovation, nurture entrepreneurial spirit at Einstein, and support the development of novel therapeutics from the bench to the market. Applications will be screened by an expert panel to select the program participants. The program will culminate in a pitch competition (prize money for first place will be $50,000, and second place will be $25,000). All Einstein researchers, clinician scientists are encouraged to apply. Graduate students and postdocs should apply in collaboration with their Principle Investigator(s).
 
How to apply:
Interested scientists should send a one-page non-confidential summary of the proposed project to biotech@einsteinmed.org  no later than Friday October 15, 2021. Summary should include the following:
● Team members and backgrounds
● Unmet medical need to be addressed
● Proposed therapeutic solution

Rigor and Reproducibility in Research and Grant Design
October 21st from 10 am – Registration Link
Dr. Tanya Dragic is coming back for another workshop on October 21st. This two-part virtual workshop is intended for any investigator planning to write a grant as well as those seeking to improve the quality of their scientific work. The lecture session will discuss reviewing prior research, experimental design, accounting for biological variables and authentication of materials to increase rigor and reproducibility of data and ensuing conclusions. The follow-up, one on one sessions will consist of individual meetings with candidates who wish to go over a particular application they may be working on or thinking about submitting in the near future. 

Financial Management of Grants and Awards

OGS in collaboration with the Research Finance invites you to a virtual workshop on Grant Financial Management. The aim of the workshop is to helping you in understanding how to develop an effective budget for your grant applications, improving your award management skills and career independence. The session will address the need of NIH Career Development/Training Plan for trainees and early career investigators. The Q/A session will discuss your concerns and a few sample budgets.
