Dear Parents and Guardians,

The halls are bustling with activity these days! We are in the beginning of October and so much is happening. We closed our first grading period and are prepared to enjoy a busy month with exciting things happening all around us. Rehearsals are underway for our fall Tri-School production of The Alibis, our Tri-School choir is more than 30 strong and our football team saw a tremendous home win against Bellarmine last Saturday.

We send our sophomores on their first overnight retreat today, picture below. We pray for a meaningful and reflective time for each Padre heading on that experience.

Tonight, all are welcome to attend our first speaker in our Serra Global Speaker Series. See link directly below.

We thank our incredible community of parents, guardians students, teachers, coaches and neighbors for all of the patience and support as we head into another productive month at Serra.

Sincerely,
Charlie McGrath
Principal

Ignatian Family Teach In Scheduled for October 16; Service Hours Offered
The Ignatian Family Teach-In for Justice is an annual gathering for members of the Ignatian family, individuals affiliated with the Jesuit network and the larger Church, to come together in the context of social justice and solidarity to learn, reflect, pray, neatwork, and advocate.

The Teach-In is a space for prophetic voices for solidarity with the economically poor, the marginalized, and the Earth, who have an openness to an Ignatian approach to faith and justice.

This year, the Teach-In is two conferences! Pulling from last year’s virtual conference’s success, we are excited to present a day-long virtual Teach-In on October 16, along with a week of bonus high school track content. (https://ignatiansolidarity.net/iftj/virtual-conference/#hstrack)

Join the Serra contingency and join in the conversation to bring equity, justice and action to marginalized communities close to home. Please contact Mme Dowden to sign up by October 8. Eligible for 6-plus service hours. Register by October 10.

Music Moves Indoors at Serra

Serra's Jazz Band and Men's Choir moved indoors after being forced to practice outdoors during the pandemic. It is exciting to be able to hear the harmonious sounds without the howling wind!

Pictured below is practice in Serra's music room early this afternoon with the all-male A capella group, The Serranaders.

The Jazz Band received new drumline equipment last week, so our young musicians have been excited to use it! Be sure check out our Pep Band at the Serra game this Saturday against Archbishop Riordan at home at 12:30 p.m.
