My mother had a bumper sticker on her car which read “Ask Me About My Grandchildren." I didn't completely understand the sentiment about what this meant until I became a grandparent myself. Now that I have grandchildren of my own, I can appreciate not only the joys, but also the challenges, of being a grandparent. Join us for a lively discussion about what it entails to be a grandparent in all its many dimensions.

Death & Dying in Reform Judaism (Zoom Class)

This course, taught be Rabbi Magat, will investigate Traditional and Reform Jewish practices, customs, and concepts surrounding death. We will also discuss some of the important issues that surround bereavement and the grieving process. Finally, we will investigate some modern theories concerning the stages of grief. We will also spend time discussing life after death and how death relates to our beliefs. 

Virtual Museum Tour: Experience Leonard Cohen
Thursday, October 21st // 5:00pm

Our CJM Educator will provide an overview of the exhibition, sharing both the biography of Leonard Cohen as well as how his work inspired and informed the four artists on view. Via installation and archival images, we will engage in conversation about the power of words, Cohen’s poetry and music, and explore the contemporary art works of George Fok, Judy Chicago, Candice Breitz, and Marshall Trammell.

Shabbat in Nature

We are excited to for our special Fall Shabbat In Nature experience! This gives us an opportunity to come together on Shabbat, sing together and spend time outdoors in nature as a community. Join us either for the hike, or just Shabbat services at Foothills Nature Preserve in Palo Alto (3300 Page Mill Road, Los Altos Hills)

Help Respond to the Current Refugee Crisis: Did you know that in Santa Clara County, Jewish Family Services of Silicon Valley is one of only two nonprofits providing refugee resettlement and connected services for families and individuals?

Intro to Judaism
Tuesdays, October 12 - April 5, 7:00pm

Want to learn more about being Jewish? Have questions about the Jewish religion? Join local Rabbis each week for the Intro to Judaism class. An overview of the Jewish life-cycle, holidays, and ritual. During the course of the year, students will gain an understanding of Jewish belief, history and calendar and gain exposure to important Jewish books including the Hebrew Bible and the Talmud.
