Constellation District Awards and Picnic

Tuesday, June 14, 6:30 pm

Join your fellow members of the Constellation District in celebrating a successful Scouting year and recognizing those who have provided exceptional service to their Units and the District. The Constellation District is holding its annual Awards Picnic on Tuesday, June 14th at 6:30 pm at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church (2220 Sproul Road, Broomall).

Join us in recognizing our District's Silver Beaver recipient Patricia Green, Award of Merit honorees Kate Hiebert and Rob Shillingford, and our District All-Stars: Paul Avazier, Maria Cengel, Cara Curley, Mike Gorski, Don Johnson, Tom Leitch, Clark Piatt, Jim Quinn, Rob Schaub, Joe Talento, Christopher Ware, and Paul Wissel.

In good Scouting-style, we’ll gather together for fire and fellowship, sharing our stories of Scouting successes throughout the year. The picnic is open to all who have volunteered or worked with their Units, District, or Council; while this event is for the adult volunteers, families are welcome as well. We'll bring the food, drinks, and awards; we hope to see you there.

Registration is openregister via website or by email to Rob Shillingford.

Unit Fundraising "How To" Video

Did you miss the special Cradle of Liberty Council Fundraising Workshop in May, or did you go and wish you could do it again?  If so, you are in luck as a video is now available to catch all of the great information from our Unit Presenters.  Click here to watch.

Learn from unit leaders who have had success in funding their program and want to share their best practices for:

  • Helping units plan how to cover their expenses
  • Helping families reduce or eliminate their out-of-pocket Scouting expenses all together, and
  • Focusing on enjoying your dream program the other 11 months of the year, and doing so with one unit fundraiser a year.

And please contact Ryan Martin (our District's fundraising specialist) with any questions.

Cub Scout Summer Camp Opportunities

It isn't too late for our Cub Families, Dens, or Packs to sign up for a variety of Summer Camp activities over the next three months. Although some are sold out, plenty of opportunities are still out there, including:

Overnight Cub Weekend Camp

Registration is open for two weekends in 2022: July 22-24 and July 29-31.

Cub Day Camps

Each week, a different venue hosts a week-long day camp; our Scouts are welcome and encouraged to attend any of them (including several near us).

Resica Falls and Musser Work Days

Camp doesn't get ready by itself. Throughout the year, a hardy group of volunteers has been cleaning up and fixing up the grounds at Resica Falls and Musser Scout Reservations. It is time for one last push, and we could use your help. Skilled and non-skilled labor welcome!

Fun Fact to Know

Bryn Mawr Troop 19 started in 1912, just two years after the founding of Scouting in the United States.  With a continuous home at Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church, they have archives dating back to its earliest decades, including a post card of the Troop's original Scoutmaster, Dr. B. K. Wilbur, from Camp Delmont (part of Musser Scout Reservation), which was one of the first Scout Reservations in the country.
