The Rita - 10th Anniversary
Audiences were treated to a spectacular visual and auditory event Sunday, April 24, for the 10th Anniversary of the Rita Tallent Picken Regional Center for the Arts and Humanities. Visitors wandered through open labs and studios like the Digital Fabrication Lab, Costume Shop, and Ranger Studio, where students create artistic endeavors ranging from Bluetooth® speakers to documentaries as part of their coursework. The day included a concert by The Range, an art gallery reception for Together Again: Kenosha and Racine, and theatre demonstrations for 'She Kills Monsters,' which opens Friday, April 29. The Blackbox Theatre hosted videos created by English students and videos created by Communication students were presented in the Foundation Gallery. Community members, young and old, enjoyed a day full of art, music, demonstrations, and video.

As a freshman discovering her interests, Terra realized she had found her calling through an introductory class of criminal justice. With helpful advice from her instructors, the next step for Terra was to develop experience through an internship.

On Wednesday, April 20, students, faculty, staff, alums, and members of the community gathered to celebrate student research, academic achievement, and artistic creation. The Student Showcase is open to all undergraduate and graduate students to present their work in poster form, artwork, oral expression, documentary, or a Quick Pitch. Several faculty remarked on how they had missed having the Student Showcase in person since Covid, and were happy to be able to visit and talk with the students about their work.
