Volunteer of the Year-Kate Manning

This year Lakeside staff have selected 5th grade parent Kate Manning as the volunteer of the year! Kate's name will be added to the district plaque in memory of her service over the 7 years she has been with Lakeside. Kate Manning has consistently volunteered for school events and been on the Foundation for many years. While we will be sad to see Kate graduating to middle school with her son, we are deeply appreciative of her time with Lakeside.

And thank you to those who joined our Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast. See pictures here

COVID Mitigation for Next School Year. Decisions about COVID mitigation strategies at Lakeside will be discussed during the August School Board Meeting on 8/10. We will communicate any updates prior to the beginning of the new school year. Please check with you students as another set of COVID tests (2 boxes, 2 tests per box) will be sent home with your students to be used as needed over the summer.

School Updates

A Note from Ms. Marshall. As with the end of every school year come reflections of how things went and looking ahead at what will come next. This next year I am hopeful we are able to pick up where we left off, continuing to operate school safely and enjoy the big and small moments throughout every day. I will never tire from seeing our students in person, seeing their sweet faces light up when they have those"ah ha! moments, seeing them running carefree on the playground and engaging in this lovely experience we call Lakeside.

The last day of school will also be the last day for a few of our staff members.

  • Ms. Kajsa Byrne is a Lakeside alum and former instructional assistant who has taught at Lakeside for 6 years and will now help Los Gatos Unified open their new TK program. With the years of inclusion teaching practices Ms. Byrne has gained over the years, she is prime for the role. I am personally so proud of the legacy she leaves behind; co-teaching, station rotations, tiered interventions, being a founding member of our MTSS and PBIS committees and so much more. Kajsa you will make your Lakeside family equally proud as you spread your wings and enter this new position.
  • Ms. Kiran Favre joined Lakeside during the pandemic, working with students in our Student Pods when in-person learning was not available for everyone. This year Kiran was a one-to-one support provider promoting her student's inclusion with peers and all activities. Kiran will be going back to school to begin her masters program next school year. We wish you all the best in this new endeavor Kiran!
  • Ms. Gretchen Tuck has served as the virtual RSP teacher for the majority of this school year, helping to stabilize our special education program during a difficult transition time. She stayed on to mentor our new teacher Ms. Cadell and to help lend her expertise.

Next year we will welcome Ms. Wendy Calendaria to our team of instructional assistants! Ms. Calendaria is a former Lakeside parent and volunteer, a friend to many in and a long time member of this community. Welcome Wendy!

Lakeside Foundation Updates

Thank you! We would like to thank all our families, friends, and neighbors who helped us raise over $150,000 this year to help maintain our current level of support for programs with the hopeful return of our music program in the fall (staffing permitting.) As a reminder, our budget funds Science, Art, PE, Music, Drama, the School Counselor, the Garden Program, teacher supplies and more. These programs would not exist without your financial support financially and our events without your volunteer hours. Thank you!

Board Transitions. We would like to welcome new members:

  • Emmet Daly, President
  • Dara Goodheart, Treasurer
  • Chris Lamb and Arik Fraimovich Almog, new voting members.

We also extend our appreciation to our current members who will continue serving:

  • Hila Propp, Vice President
  • Astrid Atkinson, Secretary
  • Mary Slaughter and Lauren Quillici, voting members.

Finally to our departing members Kate Manning, Tiffany Cisler, Juliet Morita, and Holly Stewart thank you for your years of service and dedication to LSCF and the students and staff of Lakeside School.

LSCF is Still Looking for a Webmaster. If you are willing and able to take over the maintenance of our website please email us ASAP. You do NOT have to be a member of LSCF to volunteer for this position.
