Lucas Seeley, Frances Vonada and Shuang Zhang have been
named valedictorians.
Quinn Mackay
has been named salutatorian. Way to go Braves!
FORECASTING
Students will enter their course requests for the 2020-2021 school year in Skyward. Course requests are not official unless they are entered into Skyward. Prior to students entering their course requests online, take time to review your student's requests to ensure they are signing up for the courses that are best for their ability, extracurricular schedule, graduation and future plans. The course catalog is available online and linked

. The catalog includes graduation and college requirements, course descriptions and prerequisites. Our master schedule is based on the requests students select during the forecasting process so please consider courses carefully. Here is the schedule for students entering course requests in Skyward:
Class of 2021 - February 19-24
Class of 2022 - February 24-28
Class of 2023 - February 2-6
In addition to entering course requests online, students must submit their course planning sheet with a parent/guardian signature on
March 6 during community period. Thank you for your careful planning.

SERVICE DEADLINE REMINDER
Just a reminder that we are approximately 10 weeks away from the
May 1 deadline for service hours. All service hours must be completed by May 1 and verified in Noble Hour by
May 15 in order to be counted toward the 20 hour service expectation.
Students may do five service hours for BBHS and the rest should be completed in their focus area. Here are the lists of pre-approved service sites for each grade level:
Freshmen -
Sophomores -
Juniors -
Seniors.
If a student would like to serve at an organization that is not on the pre-approved list, they should complete this approval request
form (accessible only to BBHS students).

SUMMER CAMPS
Summer camps are a wonderful way to earn service hours over the summer. Outdoors for All is seeking volunteers for children and adults with and without developmental disabilities. This camp would provide service hours for rising juniors (BBHS juniors are asked to
complete service working with individuals with physical or intellectual challenges, the elderly, or people (or their family) living with illness). Click

SPRING SPORTS REGISTRATION IS OPEN
All spring sports begin on Monday, March 2. (Girls Lacrosse began February 24.) In order to participate, all information on FamilyID must be completed and signed, including uploading a current physical and medical history form, for athletes to be eligible. Please click

to register. If you have already registered for a Campus Ministry Program or a fall or winter sport, please continue to use the same email that you originally signed up with to expedite the process. When registration has been completed, the Athletic Office will send an email confirming that everything has been completed properly. BBHS no longer issues yellow cards.
MARCH 2ND PRACTICE SCHEDULE
Baseball:
Participants are to meet in the bus barn dressed and ready to go at 2:45 p.m. Practice time is 3:00-5:00 p.m.
Boys Soccer:
Participants are to meet on the south end of Mickey Naish Field dressed and ready to go at 7:00 p.m. to receive a tryout number. Practice time is 7:15-8:45 p.m.
Boys Lacrosse:
Participants are to meet on the north end of Mickey Naish Field at 4:00 p.m. dressed and ready to go. Practice time is 4:15-5:45 p.m.
Girls Lacrosse:
Practice time is 5:45-6:30 p.m.
Tennis:
Participants are to meet in the quad at 2:45 p.m. dressed and ready to go. Practice time is 3:00-5:00 p.m.
Track:
Participants are to meet in the Main Gym dressed and ready to go at 2:45 p.m. Practice time is 3:00-5:00 p.m.
Softball:
Participants are to meet in the wrestling room dressed and ready to go at 2:50 p.m. Practice time is 3:00-5:00 p.m.

SUMMER CAMPS
The schedule for our Brave Summer Camps has been released. We are offering 14 different camps for rising K-9 students in basketball, cheer, STEM, study skills, soccer, flag football and more! DRIVERS ED - SPRING SESSION
The spring session of Driver's Education held at BBHS will run
March 2 - May 7
. Classes are Tuesday/Thursday from 2:45-4:45 (except holidays.) Register your student

GRADUATION GOWNS AND PHOTO
Senior parents, during CP on Friday,
March 6
, we will be distributing graduation caps and gowns to all seniors. We will also be taking their class photo for the graduation program. Please do your best to make sure your senior is in class that day.

MINDFULNESS IN MATH
Bishop Blanchet partners with Puget Sound Council of Teachers of Mathematics
(PSCTM) to support the promotion of math education in the Seattle area by hosting quarterly
dinners along with a guest presenter. February's dinner topic title was The Mindful Equation. The speaker, Shelly Henderson, has been a health educator for the past 25 years. During the
session, she demonstrated mindfulness strategies that teachers can introduce into the classroom
to help students overcome anxiety around learning and testing. Mindfulness is a tool that anyone
can use and everyone can benefit from. Everyone felt a little more "present" by the end of the
session. Our math teachers were fortunate to have this opportunity to collaborate with colleagues from around the Puget Sound region.

SPRING MUSICAL
The Bishop Blanchet spring musical, The Addams Family - with music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa and book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, is well underway. Student actors are busy learning their dances, songs and lines while the many-faceted crews are engaged in designing, styling, sewing, building and marketing.
The Marketing and Pub Crew is looking for your help! If you know a middle school teacher at one of our local Catholic Grade Schools, would you please reach out and call this opportunity to their attention:
our Catholic Schools Friday Matinee on May 1, 2020 at 11:30 a.m. We are inviting all 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th graders to join us. Cost is $6/per student and teachers and chaperones are free!

JAZZ BAND PERFORMANCE
The Jazz Band, under the direction of Sean Richarz, recently received a grant from the Jazz Educators Network.
This JAZZ2U Grant was awarded to support a special concert the Jazz Band is having on May 15 featuring noted trumpet player Bobby Medina. Bobby played with the band last year and it was a big success, so we are pleased he will be joining us again this year.
The concert begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Marge Bradburn Theater and will be free of charge. Mark your calendar!

DIVERSITY LEADERSHIP SUMMIT

welcome to
attend!

t will be a valuable experience even if you are only able to attend
part of DLS
. Additionally, financial assistance is available,
don't allow the registration fee to keep you from signing up.
Parents, we would love your help in encouraging your student to sign up for this event. Please have them complete this registration form by February 28. Registration is $25.
All students are invited to register for our third annual BBHS Diversity Leadership Summit! This year, the DLS is getting even bigger and better, with the return of Christian Paige plus 6 new facilitators for a conference-style weekend event! We are also inviting students from other local Catholic high schools to join us for an even more epic DLS experience.
DLS will be held at BBHS on Friday, March 20, 2020 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and Saturday, March 21, 2020 from 9:00-1:00 p.m. A flyer with event details can be found here.
This summit is designed for ALL students from all grades and all backgrounds. Students who are interested in developing their leadership skills through understanding diversity, equity and identity are encouraged to attend. Returning DLS participants are encouraged to attend again!

COLLEGE KICK-OFF NIGHT FOR JUNIORS AND THEIR PARENTS/GUARDIANS
Juniors and their parents/guardians are invited to join BBHS counselors and a variety of college presenters on Tuesday,
March 3
at 7:00 p.m. in the Ernie Rose Main Gym. An email was sent out last week to junior parents and students with details and registration information.
SCHOLARSHIP OFFER LETTERS
As your senior receives scholarship offers from colleges, please send a copy of all scholarship offer letters to Ms. Moehring in the Counseling Center so we can recognize their achievement in the end of the year programming.
SAT AND ACT TEST PREP
There are several different organizations that offer test prep for both the SAT and ACT. Here are a few:
- Mazor Test Prep sessions are beginning soon. Please see their website for information on classes and tutoring for upcoming SAT and ACT administrations. BBHS students receive a $100 discount!
- Test prep sessions are also offered through the University of Washington Women's Center. Please click here for more information.
- ACT Academy provides students with personalized study plans to help them prepare for the ACT.
