Schweitzer is currently suspending all in-person gatherings as we do our part to slow the spread of COVID-19. We do not know how long we will be suspending gatherings and will communicate our plans through these emails and on our website
Schweitzer website.

Community Impact

Many in our church family may need additional help during this time. If you know of someone who could use a phone call for connection and prayer or may need help with groceries or errands, please call our main office line at  417-881-6800.

We also have opportunities for you to serve our community and to make a difference.
  • We will continue to operate our Food Pantry and have opportunities for more volunteers to serve. Many of our Food Pantry volunteers are older than 65. We will be working towards a drive-through delivery system as well as a home drop-off delivery service.
  • With Springfield Public Schools being closed, we will be working with our partner school Pittman Elementary to provide food for children.
If you would be interested in helping serve our community in this difficult time, please call our main office line at  417-881-6800.

Parents & Students,

Fear and anxiety are real things, especially right now. As believers we have hope and we trust the Lord in all circumstances. However, anxiety is a real emotion that many of us are struggling with. I've done a lot of research over Spring Break and have put together some resources for you and your family to navigate during these unprecedented times.

Psalm 3:1-4 (NIV)
1 Lord, how many are my foes!
How many rise up against me!
Many are saying of me,
"God will not deliver him. "
But you, Lord, are a shield  around me,
my glory, the One who lifts my head high.
I call out to the Lord,
and he answers me from his holy mountain.

Prayer for a Pandemic

May we who are merely inconvenienced
Remember those whose lives are at stake.
May we who have no risk factors
Remember those most vulnerable.
May we who have the luxury of working from home
Remember those who must choose between preserving their health or making their rent.
May we who have the flexibility to care for our children when their schools close
Remember those who have no options.
May we who have to cancel our trips
Remember those that have no safe place to go.
May we who are losing our margin money in the tumult of the economic market
Remember those who have no margin at all.
May we who settle in for a quarantine at home
Remember those who have no home.
As fear grips our country,
let us choose love.
During this time when we cannot physically wrap our arms around each other,
Let us yet find ways to be the loving embrace of God to our neighbors.

Amen.
