Discipleship
Prince Seniors Participate
in International & Local Missions
During the week of March 1st – 7th, the Prince Avenue Christian School senior class participated in missions both internationally and locally.
Students who participated in international missions spent the week in San José, Costa Rica in partnership with Joshua Expeditions. While there, students worked with different ministries to serve the people of San José with the love of Christ and the truth of the Gospel.

First, the students participated in a construction day at the Abraham Project that provides homes for orphans and single mothers along with providing education and health services to the community.

In addition to construction, the seniors took part in a day of outreach and urban ministry in a community called Guararí. Shortly before the trip, Guararí was devastated by a fire, and Prince students were able to bring love and joy to a community that desperately needed it. Also, the Prince Interact Club raised money to purchase building materials that will help rebuild homes and buy clothes for those who lost their homes. The experience was definitely an eye opening one for Prince students,

Finally, the seniors also spent two days working with at risk children in daycares sharing Jesus with them. These days were particularly impactful for the kids and for our seniors. Many seniors said that these two days changed them the most. Even though it required them to step outside do their comfort zones, the students willingly did so and got to share the love of Christ and the message of Jesus with kids despite the language barrier.
Students who participated in local missions spent the week helping at FISH Monroe. Faith in Serving Humanity (FISH) is a Christian outreach ministry sponsored by a number of local churches, volunteers, and generous members of the community.

Prince seniors were split between three of FISH Monroe’s outreach programs. The first group was at the FISH Monroe Thrift Store where they pulled hangers, straightened items, hung clothing that had been donated, and priced items. Students also learned how to repair lamps and sorted through toys to make repairs. The second group was at the FISH Monroe main office. This group completed paperwork for qualifying families to receive food assistance and packed and loaded boxes for the families. In addition, this group also sorted items in the food pantry. The third group helped prepare lunch and dessert for the FISH Community Kitchen at First Christian Church Monroe.
Academics
Students Celebrate Dr. Seuss Day
Prince kindergarten and 2nd-grade students celebrated Dr. Seuss Week with special crafts, activities, and snacks. They concluded their celebrations by dressing up as their favorite Dr. Seuss characters.
Lower School Students Welcome Baby Chicks
In lower school science lab, Prince students in kindergarten through 5th grades recently studied the stages of development of a chick embryo. Students learned the anatomy of an egg and compared and contrasted the life cycle of a chicken with the life cycles of insects and amphibians.

Students also discussed the creativity of God in the ways that he brings living creatures into the world. As part of the unit, students observed the incubation of chicken eggs for three weeks and were excited to view the arrival of the chicks through video provided by lower school science teacher Mrs. Benito.
Middle School Students Apply
Math Concepts in Class Competition
Students in Mrs. Schroeder's 6th grade Accelerated Math class applied their new knowledge of statistics using a paper airplane competition. Each student flew his or her plane and used the tiles on the floor to count the feet each plane flew.

Once all the data was collected, the class made a stem and leaf plot and a histogram. Students calculated the average distance flown was approximately 15 feet, and the mode was 7 feet.

The class also determined that approximately 33% of the planes flew at least 20 feet with the furthest distance being 34 feet. Congratulations to Francis Kelley whose plane flew the furthest!
