Rector's Ramblings

Sunday's campaign launch event was a fantastic one, and will no doubt go down as one of the high points of my tenure at Christ Church, and I have no idea what other great events are yet to come! It was that good. It is always nice to have so many from our parish together in one place, and the positive energy and excitement was palpable. That event was a long time coming, perhaps longer than many realize. There will be details about the plans coming to mailboxes soon, for those who attended and those who didn't. Today I want to share a bit more than is in the campaign documents, when it comes to the background and how we got to where we are today. Some of you will know all of this already. Many of us haven't been at Christ Church for the same length of time or participated in various eras of conversation and discernment, so it can be helpful to revisit it from time to time.

Worship

The Season After Epiphany
Join us for weekly worship at Christ Church. Holy Eucharist worship services take place on Saturday at 5:30 pm at St. Ignatius Chapel, on Demere Road, and on Sunday at 8:00 am, 9:15 am (services in both historic Christ Church and the Parish Hall), and 11:15 am at Christ Church, Frederica. Kidurgy, our Liturgy of the Word for younger children, takes place during the 9:15 am worship service at Christ Church.
January Choral Evensong
On Tuesday, January 21, at 5:30 pm, the Choristers, Trebles, and Cantori will lead Choral Evensong in the Historic Church. They are working hard and doing a great job learning about Liturgy and Music. Please come and worship with them. The service lasts a half hour.

On Sunday, February 23, at 5:30 pm, there will be a Festive Choral Evensong celebrating the end of Epiphany. The Frederica Setting of the Magnificat, Nunc Dimittis, and Preces and Responses will be offered for the first time. All of our Choirs will participate in this Liturgy. The service will last 45 minutes.

Cum laude digma (with joyful voice),
Kathleen Turner
Organist and Choirmaster
