Welcome to a new semester
It's another September and a new semester here at Georgian. This fall, Georgian is offering a combination of fully remote and hybrid program delivery to our students in an effort to slowly increase activity on campus.

Head Start and Orientation programming took place online throughout the end of August and beginning of September to welcome new students and set them up for a successful semester ahead. While things still look a little different due to COVID-19, the orientation team managed to create a fun, engaging and informative virtual orientation schedule for all students to participate in.

For those planning to work and learn on campus this semester, COVID-19 protocols remain in place. The screening assessment and masking will be familiar from previous semesters, and new this September is a vaccine requirement. As of Sept. 7, 2021, any student, employee, or visitor who will access a Georgian College campus or location must be vaccinated against COVID-19.

As the semester continues on, more and more services will open up on campus, and we can't wait for the day when we are one of them. Be sure to read future issues of The Keynote to find out what a return to campus will look like for Georgian's conference and event services team!
Spotlight: our amazing athletics facility
When campus is in full swing, there’s no busier place at the Barrie Campus than the Athletics and Fitness Centre, featuring an 8,600-square-foot fitness centre and a 20,000-square-foot double gymnasium.

Our gym has been host to numerous varsity tournaments and sports training camps over the years, proving itself as the perfect location for young athletes to learn new skills. Our students and community also have the opportunity to use our J. C. Massie Field. You can read more about it in our Keynote special October 2020 edition.

This space not only nurtures new athletes, it is also an ideal venue for large events. With the help of our awesome athletics team, it can transform into a versatile event space that can seat up to 1,100 people, and accommodate up to 1,500 standing. Our team has planned trade shows, galas, robotics competitions, and more in the gym; each event taking on its own unique setup and style to make the most of all the space the gym offers.

Check out our video to see how the athletics team transforms the space from a state of the art gymnasium into an auditorium for the President's Thought Leadership Series.
