Roslyn Public Schools
SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS
March 15, 2020

Dear Roslyn Families,

Nassau County Executive Laura Curran has issued an order this morning closing all K-12 schools in the county through March 27. Roslyn's school facilities will remain off limits for ALL activities until further notice.

We will proceed with implementation of our learning plan via digital communication during the upcoming weeks, as described in my previous messages. Whenever schools are able to re-open, we will adjust the calendar as necessary to make up as much lost instructional time as we reasonably can.

Again, let me reiterate that gatherings of any kind, even play dates, are counter-productive to the goal of limiting social contact to slow the spread of coronavirus. As the county health commissioner said today, "It's about social distancing...That means staying home."

It's understandable if the situation is causing anxiety in your children. Please feel free to reach out to a school psychologist, social worker or counselor if you feel the need to do so. We may not be in school, but we are still here for you. Check the district's online staff directory for contact information.

Needless to say, we will continue to monitor the situation day by day, follow the advice and direction of public health authorities, and provide you with updates as we receive them. At this time, the Department of Health has not notified us of any confirmed cases of COVID-19 among our students or staff.

Getting through this crisis will require a community effort. Please continue to practice good hygiene, as recommended by the CDC and other health professionals, and stay healthy.

Sincerely,
Allison Brown
