Creating More Equitable Schools and Communities

In honor of Black History Month, we recognize the need to continuously work to identify internalized tendencies and stereotypes that may be harmful or offensive to others. Every child deserves a fair and just opportunity for health and educational success, and it is imperative that we work to eliminate inequities in our health and education systems.

The resources below highlight current issues around equity and racism within school communities and suggest ways that we can all work towards overcoming them.

From Alliance for a Health Generation, this resource highlights a number of examples where schools and communities are working to ensure all children have equitable access and opportunities to succeed and enjoy health.
Supporting Health Equity at Home
Although resolving issues of inequities often lie with organizations and systems, families can also play an important role in advocating for and supporting changes. Find ideas for helping children to be better equipped to be their best selves.
