MAKERSPACE COMMUNITY MEETINGS
MAKE YOUR MARK ON OUR MAKERSPACE TODAY!
We are seeking community feedback on drawings of potential makerspace and co-working space designs for the Downtown Library. At the meetings, community members will look at potential layouts of the all-ages space and discuss the best uses of the space including: 3D printing, laser cutters, sewing machines, co-working spaces, and more.

Join us TODAY to guide the library's plans for building a community space to make, design and learn.

CELEBRATING BLACK HISTORY MONTH
Join us on Friday, February 21, in partnership with Redwood City Parks, Recreation and Community Services  for Concrete Communities "Together We Rise." The event is a cultural experience with Diamano Coura West African Dance Company's powerful performances, the Smithsonian Traveling Poster Exhibit: City of Hope, and Peopleologie's hands-on West-African Artifact Exhibit. In addition, community organizations will be sharing information about college, housing, internships, job opportunities and more! There will be a variety of delicious food for sale by local food trucks. Learn more here.

B eginning February 1st at the Downtown Library, we invite you to a special exhibition exploring the 1968 movement that put poverty at the forefront as a national human rights issue. City of Hope: Resurrection City and the 1968 Poor People's Campaign is on view from February 1-21. The poster exhibition is brought to you courtesy of the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service in collaboration with the National Museum of African American History and Culture.

Are you interested in learning more about the rich history of African Americans? We've put together book lists for Adults and Children that honor major figures and moments in Black History.
WHAT'S NEW?
RCPL BEES IN THE NEWS
The Library Bees were on ABC7 News this week! Tony from A BC7 News came to learn about the bees from Beekeeper Kendal Sager and Library Director Derek Wolfgram. Watch the segment here. The bees also posted on their @RCPLBees Facebook page an update on their hives: "Our left hive has had a rough winter - there are only a couple hundred of us left (you can see in the queen pic there aren't too many of us), and our queen isn't laying any more eggs. Kendal will see if she can find some bee buddies from another hive to combine us with. Our right hive is doing alright, with a couple thousand bees in residence, and our healthy queen (pictured) is making new babies so we can start growing once the weather warms up a bit." Follow the Bees here.
